My sister spotted it two ago in our kitchen. It came in during the crappy flooding storms we been having in chicago. Do bad storms usually bring in mouses and crap?

Fast forward to 5 minutes ago. I just seen it in the kitchen. I already put traps out with peanut butter and nothing yet.

Damn it. We closed it off so it only has access to our kitchen and big basement. Do you advise us to call an exterminator?

if it is just one, set a few traps and you should be good to go... I once had a mouse in my house, set a few traps... the traps caught nothing, but I never saw the mouse ever again... (maybe the neighborhood cat got it...). The best way to prevent rodent infestation is simply to keep your house clean and food-free so the mice would naturally wander off elsewhere.

I set 2 "NO VIEW" traps and 2 snap traps. Damn it. I might get some more to handle this problem. I want it out the house ASAP!

No need for an exterminator. If you put out traps before it makes a nest, you'll be fine. If not, the traps will eventually kill them, but to expedite, find the nest and destroy it. They like to chew up paper, cardboard, and/or fabric to make it, so check any out of the way places in your house where they can hide and have access to materials. Once they nest, they generally only travel from there to the food source (kitchen) and back. In my experience, they may get into your walls, but the nest is always somewhere relatively accessible (attic, garage, inside a cardboard box, etc.). If you see any shredded paper, investigate and you will find it.

Also, if you actually SEE this thing on a regular basis, have a mop handle or shovel or something in easy reach. If you make the food hard to get, go after every mouse you see with a club, AND set traps, chances are they'll leave.

Did you ever cover your air conditioner unit?

It probably came in through that. ;)

As for it's "limited access" I can promise you that it has access to your entire house since they can get anywhere.

You guys are slacking, :camera: of sister asap.

We had mice in our house. We tried traps for 3 months. We killed one or so every night, but it wasn't solving the problem. They were smart enough to get around the traps. We got some poison and they were all dead within 10 days.

Ya, they were dead, but what if it died in your wall? Wouldn't it just smell for days??

Just don't do this if you have any pets that roam your house for obvious reasons.

I never noticed any smell strangely enough.

I just put them in strategic locations where the mice were and the dogs couldn't get to them. Under the sink, behind the fridge, behind a trash can in the corner, etc.

Well somebody has to. Wait 'till you find an occupied trap, with its skull smashed and/or neck broken, and beady little eyes bulging out of its head. Frozen in time with a snout full of peanut butter.

Adopt cat from animal shelter, unleash it on mice, take cat back to shelter when mice are eradicated.

One of his funniest clips EVAR

Oh nono Shep... That's rat poison!

Just add water for a hearty poison gravy that no rat can resist.
