ok fine, lets not use sweet...lets just say, exciting? crazy? weird? freaky? either way...its not something that happens everyday...

Some people WISH that sh!t like this don't happen everyday.

like i said, i wasn't wishing it happens everyday...just that if it happens, i would want to see it. like if someone robbed the bank around the corner from me, i think it woulda been cool to have been a hostage...i mean, i've never been a hostage before...

Not to be insensitive, but you'd think a former cop would be a better shot. More than 20 shots in a crowded city and he wounded one.

This reminds me of a SWAT3 level I played when you had to breach into a house owned by a manic depressive who was a highway sniper. Good game.

hahahahaha

As for him being an ex-cop and only wounding one, I'd say that maybe he didn't want to hit anyone and it was just a cry for help.

i dunno, maybe he just wanted to see people scatter like ants..... have you ever seen kids pouring water on ants? they're not really trying to kill them per se, just want to watch them scramble.

You haven't been at the range with a wide enough selection of police officers. Based on the cops I've seen at the range (and remember, these are the ones that PRACTICE, I hate to think about the marksmanship of the cops who dont go to the range), in a hostage situation, I'd try to act like the hostage taker, because in a room full of people, the person the cop is aiming at is going to be the last hit. Actually, its not quite that bad, but its close enough to be scary.

No, you're the type of person who would like to see it happen! :disgust:

well its not like i WANT to see things like this happen, i just think it woulda been kinda sweet to have been there...i mean things like this happen...and to be there while its happening woulda been surreal, its not like i want it to happen..
I have to agree. There's nothing more entertaining than chomping a handful of popcorn while sitting by the window and watching a nutcase take potshots at unsuspecting passers-by.

heh...

in a hostage situation, it's very very doubtful that your average street cop is going to be the sniper.

I know. I just used it as an example.

you guys are slamming this guy for wishing he had seen the sniper, but you're really missing the whole point. He isn't saying he wants people to get sniped, simply that if it is going to happen anyways he would like to see it. How many times have you guys that are slamming him slowed down when passing an accident scene to try and see what is going on. How many times have you watched the twin towers getting hit by airplanes on CNN? Face it, it is human nature to be drawn to conflict. You don't want people to get in car accidents, you didn't want 9-11 to happen, and he didn't want these people to get shot, but he (and you) are drawn to the conflict becuase it sparks a general curiosity in it. Don't give this guy a hard time, he isn't saying he wanted people to get shot, he simply said that if people are getting shot anyways, as horrible as it is, he'd like to watch it. Stop being so close-minded and try to understand a) where this guy is coming from and b) exactly what it is that he is stating.

This isn't "Saving Private Ryan." These are real people being wounded and killed by real bullets. It's one thing to rubberneck a car accident because you can't help but stare. It's completely different to hear about a car accident and think to yourself "I wish I could have been there to see that...

Jzero - did you watch the 9/11 CNN clips of real people really falling/jumping out of the WTC, plumeting to their death? I know 10s of millions of other americans did. Is this not the same thing?

Take my analogy from above and apply it. I'm not going to do the legwork for you.

In short it's one thing to be in the presence of violence and give in to the urge to stare. That's normal.
It's another thing to desire to be in the presence of violence just so that you can stare. That's pretty weird.
