Some crazy fool was stopped at a checkpoint 1/2 a mile from the rally, he had a van full of weapons and a fake VIP pass for the rally. While I don't want Trump to get killed, some of his idiot followers are yet again saying the Dems are behind this. This means they've been behind all 3 attempts now. I gotta say boy they're doing an extremely shitty job finding someone who's a competent shooter.

On a serious note, I am glad the police got the guy before he could do anything. It's crazy how many people are trying to kill him.

From what I read.. he's a Trumper and has attended multiple rallies. Apparently Nevada was the last one he attended and he wasn't arrested but its the crazy California cops that arrested his biggest fan and are trying to frame him as an "assassin".

Personally, except for the unacceptable aftermath and creating a martyr of that Slug, I imagine a lot of people often wish that Trump's head would explode from a frangible round for Red State Prime Time and Re-run. Most sane people wouldn't attempt such a thing, because they believe in the Rule of Law, have too much to lose, lack the resources, and anticipate the reaction of the RWNJ's -- or most of the blindly loyal Trump base.

And the Democrats -- far from whatever lunatic conspiracy nonsense being spun by the Right -- are the last people who would countenance harming one hair on Trump's head. They actually want to make the system work and work fairly.

But it really boils down to this -- my rehearsal for a possible Letter to Editor in the regional newspaper: This election cannot be about the smorgasbord issues -- climate change; Project 2025 and damaging institutions established over at least a century of blood, sweat and tears; immigration; etc. etc.

The man is a CRIMINAL. He's been convicted on 34 felony counts and under indictment for a remaining 60 felony counts -- in four or five different jurisdictions and levels of government. He's walked between the raindrops of criminal justice most of his adult life. He's a sociopath and disordered narcissist -- features that often accompany the behaviors of habitual criminals.

So if we occasionally imagine the 50-cal mercury bullet splattering his brains and face for a cellphone Zapruder remake, it is also because we cannot understand how a criminal like Trump can even get on the ballot, or how these so-called "Americans" in his base are so eager to damage this country by trying to re-elect him.

They don't love America, and they cannot accept the evolution of our institutions under the Constitution and a long line of Congressional terms over such a long time. They just want to turn the entire Federal level on its head, and damn the long history of struggle to create it on behalf of the American People.

Frankly, I think the Blues should finish the Civil War that was never fully completed, and without Lincoln's mercy. And -- please! -- don't try and tell me that Lincoln would be a "Republican" in today's GOP. That's bulls***.

It's what I'm think'in his alibi could be, considering he needs to get close to Trump with what he brung to the party, he's stupid enough to get caught with the toys to begin with and you just don't roll up on a very tense wound up trigger happy security detail that's been quite recently humiliated thinking "I'm going to get known, man. People will remember me and my name for this."

Of course, there's the usual conspiracy theories of his either being a plant by the Democrats OR the Republicans, depending on who gets what out of it.

Imagine how many cars at a Trump rally would be found to have at least a loaded sidearm if not a long gun and or shotgun if they were all searched, I would think A LOT. The Secret Service doesn't care about those weapons as long as they remain in your vehicle. The ONLY reason the vehicle was searched and the weapons found was the fake license plate. That deputy is probably pretty lucky the search was done at an armed checkpoint and not a routine traffic stop. Many Sovereign Citizens that have been pulled over have responded with violence because their "rights" were being violated.

This was not an assassination attempt. It's purely the case of one of his yahoo supporters fucking around and finding out.
