Ok, that doesn't happen, but would be amusing. New Hampshire pays their state legislators something like $100 a year, I can see that happening to Congress too.

The problem with that is it would further discourage people with limited wealth from running for Congress, especially in the House, where districts are smaller and thus campaign costs are also smaller (and thus, easier for not so rich people to run).

Pretty much any time someone says "there ought to be a law" there probably shouldn't be one.

Yeah, why should people be fairly compensated for their time? Fuck that.

Speaking of fat, there should be a law against eating more calories than what you need daily, unless you are a bodybuilder or someone with special dietary needs. In that case, you should be required to fill a form requesting government permission to eat like a pig.

That's dumb.

There should be laws against making something a crime if there is no victim. (hookers, pot, etc)

That argument doesn't hold semen..err water anymore.

A law to limit sports salaries (NBA,MLB,NFL,NHL,etc.) to not exceed a certain amount. How that amount is to be determined, I don't know. But athletes should not be paid more than professors/doctors/anyone else who helps other people.

A law to guarantee a college football playoff.

There should be a law that all laws expire after 3 years unless each law is specifically reviewed and voted upon anew. That aught to clear the records a bit and give congress something to do.

Not to mention that there should be a law against congress giving themselves pay raises, their wages should be voted upon by the American people in the middle of their serving terms. (that should cause them to want to raise their approval ratings)

Amen. "Gentlemen, I think we'd all like new TVs. Motion for a payraise!"

A law against complaining about smokers when you are OUT FUCKING SIDE!

I'd rather see a law that requires a certain percentage of team's profits to be donated to charities, rather than paying these mega salaries or letting owners make ridiculous profits.

I tend to loath smokers as much as the next guy, but this point is hard to ignore.

Or if a woman lies about being on the pill, lies about stuff with getting preg, that the guy shouldn't be forced to pay child support.

How about a law that gives a guy some sort of input the other way around too?

microsoft has to donate 80% of profits to charities

You forgot to spell Microsoft with a $ sign, so you lose. But I'm curious; why is it only Microsoft that must donate 80% of its profits to charity? Sure, Bill Gates isn't the head of Microsoft any more, but he's the man responsible for getting the company where it is today, and he, along with Warren Buffet, represent the two most charitable people in history; seems like some of that MS profit is already going to charity. And hey, if Microsoft has to donate 80% of their profits to charity, how much does Apple have to donate, seeing as how Macs are more expensive than PCs? Or how about companies like Monster Cable, which set a 1500% markup on their products? Surely they should be forced to donate their ill-gotten gains to charity?

Hating Microsoft is passe. It makes you look like a child. Get over your retarded fanboyism and realize that Microsoft is nothing more than a successful company, which, quite frankly, has considerably better policies regarding employee compensation and benefits and environmental impact than most companies of comparable size. Singling Microsoft out as though they are the devil makes zero sense on any objective scale unless your single determining factor is that success is inherently evil, in which case good luck panhandling.

Oh yes, because they work so hard for their $169,000 yearly salary, free dental, free airfare, and retirement fund.

They "Work" 4 days a week, get Oct-Dec off, and half of April off. Yeah, that pay sounds fair to me.

What other job can you get with those kinds of benefits?

Sigh. I was arguing against a $100/year salary.

Plus, $169k isn't exactly an exorbitant amount. Being a Congressman is a pretty prestigious position. Why shouldn't it pay well?

There should be mandatory death penalty for vandalism, and it should be legal to be able to shoot "taggers" (those who use spraypaint to paint graffiti on stuff) for sport.

Your logic fails on so many levels. But I'll add this, I'm about 5'11 200lb, I'm not fat, and not skinny. I don't exercise at all, I typically eat around 6,000 calories a day. My weight does not change, so I would have to assume if I ate only the recommended daily Calories I would probably loose weight. Since it takes about 6k a day to maintain my current weight. I have to eat like a pig to keep from dropping lbs. Not everyone who eats like a pig is a fat ass.
