What happens if you have no clue about what you're speaking about? It seems to be a menacing disorder which affects most Americans.

I disagree. If you don't know where the candidates stand on the important issues, don't even bother voting. However, it's not too late to go to the candidates' websites and learn and then vote.

It's especially important to vote this year because Rehnquist has cancer and may be unable to pick the president this year. :D

the deadline to register for the Nov election was October 4...if yours wasn't submitted or postmarked (like mine) by that date, you won't be able to vote.

Got my voter registration card last week and will do submit an early vote this week. (tried a few hours ago, but the line was too long)...

Reminds me of a quote:

"Bad officals are elected BY PEOPLE WHO DON'T VOTE!"

Vote or Die!!

Plus if you are that far out of the loop then you probably didn't even register!

Want to know a good reason not to vote? Both candidates are terrible and will likely bring more harm to this country than good. Knowing this, why should I waste an hour of my time (an hour I could be working and making money) to go vote? I'd be better off working.

As is it, I requested an early ballot be mailed to me and I will vote that way. If I could not have done this, I would not have wasted my time to go vote for an asshat.

Sounds like someone who also didn't bother to vote in the preliminaries!

Don't vote then Don't complain!

Vote or Die!!!

There are plenty of reasons not to vote. In a perfect world everyone would be aware of every candidate and issue being voted on in any given election and would participate. Unfortunately that isn't always possible. You may disagree, but I feel it is better to abstain from voting for a candidate or issue you aren't informed about, be it the President of the United States or for a local judge. Not voting is better than voting for the guy with the best/shortest name, or who is listed first on the ballot.

Secondly if there is no candidate you find suitable there is nothing wrong with abstaining. Conciously deciding not to cast a vote in spite of being informed of the issues in an election is just as much a vote as anything. There is a difference between people too lazy to be bothered with going to the polls or who are ignorant of the issue at hand, and a person skipping one vote on the ballot because they aren't satisfied with the options given them. We're all adults here and are capable of making that kind of decision. We certainly don't need you to hold our hands, and if you think writing your own name in for the candidate is an intelligent alternative, again I have to  at you.

Voting for the sake of voting isn't a virtue. There is a reason voting isn't compulsory.

What you don't understand is that whether or not you vote matters VERY little in this country. Want to really change this country? Get rich and then use your money.
