You don't really save any money at the good local coffee shops, sometimes the good local ones cost more. Usually they're worth more because the coffee is better, but then again that's not always the case. Here in Columbus, OH the local shops (Cup O' Joe) might make a better espresso one day, but next day you'll find that the espresso is bitter beyond belief and that Starbuck's espresso is better; there is no such thing as consistentcy with these coffee places. I hate to say it, but once in a while Starbuck's espresso can be quite good, however more often that not it isn't. I haven't been to a Starbuck's in over a year while I visit Cup O' Joes almost everyday, I just take the good cups with the sucky cups. Maybe I should go to Starbuck's and see if I get lucky with a good espresso.
