When we see something significant out of DX 10.1 in a real game, then we'll talk.

Any company can brag about their exclusive features do all this and all that and release demos but until the feature is significant to consumers then it's pointless.

Besides, DX11 is not too far away.

Whoohoo, one day, I'm gonna get one of those awesome 38x0 cards! I'm still using an 8800GT, and a 9800GTX+. I'm sure a 3850 would blow them both away, assuming I want to start playing ping pong on my PC.

BTW, Nemesis, when did you stop pimping for Intel?

DX 10.1 does really improve the overall performance and image quality. In fact EA, Sega and Blizzard have agreed to make dx 10.1 games in the coming months.

You seem to be vary unfamiliar with a blizzard development cycle, chances are dx11 will be out before anything they implement into a new game.

DX11 games won't be out until 2011/2012, DX10 was announced in Nov 2005, hardware became available in Oct/Nov 2006 and the first dx10 game (I think Call of Juarez DX10 update) was released several months later. Do you think it's a two week job to learn and implement new technologies?

No, it was an attempt to pimp a checkbox feature that (so far) been all but forgotten about. Might DX 10.1 end up being the cat's meow? Sure, but not a one of us will know whether or not that's going to happen until a DX 10.1 game is released.

He said DX 11, not DX 11 games. However, I believe your sarcasm detector is on the fritz again.;) I'm nearly positive he was just making a comment about Blizzard's development cycles, or lack thereof.

Starcraft 2 is coming out shortly and will use dx 10.1 afaik. An actual quality title that will be played by many, using dx 10.1, coming out soon. :D

Why all the Nemesis bashing, hes just an enthusiast trying to share views on new technologies

And the lightning on that demo looks awesome, far from anything Ive seen in any game yet... And I bet the 4870 X2 could pull off a full game with that kind of eye candy
But you gotta remember the only reason DX10.1 didnt take over DX10 yet is because Nvidia cried to devs saying they didnt have it (Assassins Creed anyone?)

Next Summer it will be interesting to see how many games have 10.1 support and how many are out with nVidia PhysX support. With the latter supposedly 10 by Christmas and 24 more next year. Hopefully, nVidia will get support for it in big titles that matter. nVidia can do the multisample functions in DX 10.1 if devs code for it.

For now, DX10.1 is nothing but a "possibly" useful feature. If the advantages of 10.1 are alluring enough to developers, they may start coding games to take advantage of it even if ATI is the only one with hardware that currently supports it. Since DirectX is backwards compatible, all future DX11 cards will also be able to take advantage of any DX10.1 enhancements they choose to implement.

The most likely games to use dx10.1 are the xbox 360 ports, since the 360 gpu supports some of the 10.1 features. I think some of the ports already do use the tesselation hardware on ati gpus, even without dx10.1.

Had Nvidia said when it plans on adding DX 10.1 features to its cards? Is that like a "fall refresH" thing i would assume..

In order to ans. your question . You simply have to know the ans . to 1 question. What is it about DX10.1 that NV HARDWARE can't do. I can't tell you the ans to that. Because I don't have the tech. savy to properly say it. If I said why in plain talk I would be banned.

I thought the Xbox360 uses Direc3D 9 (as in NINE), are you sure?

All I'm saying is, if both camps are not on the same side, no developer will take advantage of DX 10.1 (wasn't the only benefit of DX10.1 some AA thing? when did it become a big thing? I'm puzzled) if NV doesn't have it, the same way PhysX will never take off until it's ported to AMD cards and NV allows you to mix n match Radeon and GeForce cards to your liking as dedicated render/physx cards.

Except yours makes you look extremely ignorant, as there are physx titles available.

Which...btw...has nothing to do with DX10.1?

I was agreeing with you, until you got silly. Both are check box features for the majority of users.

I wouldn't say titleS, more like title and 1/4. GRAW 2 and three levels of UT3, both of them mediocre games, and one that is an online title with a playerbase of about 3 people. Oh and an absolutely terrible game NV packaged with it's physx driver release for free it was so bad.

PhysX is as empty as dx 10.1, yeah they say there are all kinds of upcoming games coming out with it. Believe that when I see it.

Starcraft 2 will have dx 10.1 not that I think 10.1 will make much difference as will some other upcoming Blizzard games. Of course Diablo 3 will likely be sometime late next year. SC2 is out in five or six months I think. At least that is certain to be a very good game, played by many.

PhysX is as much empty hype as dx 10.1 is.

Ok...but again....what does physx have to do with 10.1?

Saying 10.1 is vaporware somehow is code for "physx is the shit"?

Well that was a waste of space.

There were certainly rumblings from Dave Bauman of some dx 10.1 titles to come. One never knows, hope springs eternal from these company types. With the amount of dx10.1 cards now out there, it stands to reason that a game will come along to tempt these owners to the cash register.

What does DX11 coming out have to do with DX10.1. Dx10.1 is a part of DX11. To be 100% DX11 complaint you have to do DX10.1. NV needs a new arch to do DX10.1. IF you believe NV is going to get it perfect right away . Your sadly mistaken.
