There goes thanksgiving for ppl in So. Cal..

http://kcal9.com/topstories/topstoriesla_story_328130425.html

Cant they kiss and make up for that period.. now the teamsters are not going to deliver because they know they want the support of the grocery clerks in 2 years.

My mom works for savon (albertson's family) as an upper management (she is hardly ever down at teh store level) but since i moved up north i dont know what's going on. I know she is a union member, I got to ask her what's going on. I know she is still working cause she came back yesterday at 9pm.

Im more concerned do i have to buy the turkey out here and take it home with me for it to be roasted.

30 + days and counting.. by now even the MTA strike is over and they have kissed and made up.

like i said..chances we are going to be having tofu turkey for thanksgiving (yes we have that as usual but it looks like its goign to be that only)

Geez, there are plenty of other supermarkets. It might get a little crowded, but you can bet they are adding extra stock for the added customers.

The article said that the stores have a contingency plan in place to keep the stores stocked. Obviously they found people to work the stores so I'm sure they have people that can drive trucks.

No worries here.

'Talks between the union and the chains resumed Saturday as a busload of supporters distributed coupons for free Thanksgiving turkeys to boost morale on the picket lines.'

so where do they redeem these coupons...like at the supermarkets they are picketing?

For every supermaket that isn't on strike there are 3-5 that are. Do the math. The "other" markets are packed as it is. Now you're going to further compound the situation? sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Why can't these stores just fire all these people who aren't going to work?

Eventually they can and will be replaced by new hires. The grocery chains arent going to budge an inch.

Man I love these sales. I've got three 22+ lb turkeys and one 15 lb turkey in the freezer now. Total cost: about nine bucks.

Sucks for Californians.

glad to see somebody else agrees with me on this.

Cause they are Union workers. Trust me, gettign rid of a union is harder than it seems. It is why Raytheon has been under scrunity for such along time.

I dont get why these grocery workers are being so hard headed. I dont think they realize that they have a job that a high school student could do. I mean, the job is almost skillliess, even at the mangerial positions. Especially with the economy today...they should be happy they have a job.

someone should beat then all in the face with a frozen turkey before they get fired and all the scabs get bonuses

i just totally walked past this one pissant telling me not to go inside. whatever dude. quit being an inconvienience to other peoples lives and just get the fvck away from me.

weeks ago, i talked to one of em. i asked him when this strike is gonna end. he said, honestly, if more shoppers shop elsewhere, and they finally get their demand. im thinking "stfu noob, the fastest way to end the strike is if you all just stopped picketting and find other jobs".
