Well, just got a few price quotes on four tires and alignment... pretty expensive for me.

4 BF Goodrich T/A - $437
4 Yokohama Avid T4 - $360

Should I go for a cheaper tire? Is the $77 extra worth it for BF?

One place did have BF Revolutions, but I didn't see those on tirerack to know how good they are... $332

Oh, I have a 2001 Chev Cav.... live in Florida so rain manuevering is also helpful.

Tire size 195/70/14

I should say that I have had Yok Avids and have been perfectly happy with them (especially in comparison to Bridgestones, Hankook, and Continental tires I have also owned).

I have never had Michelin, Pirelli, or Toyo tires to ever compare.

You have a Cavalier man, why not just get the cheapest tire possible ??
What I would do is go to www.tires.com, Get the $44 tire($176 total free shipping.)
Bring them to a wal-mart $7.50 per tire for balancing/install. Thats $206 total. Then go get alignment.
Whole lot cheaper than $360.

Or go to tirerack.com.
Buy the tires...have them shipped to a recommended place. Go there and get your tires install.
Probably be a little more but still cheaper than $360.

Yeah - he shouldn't be concerned about safety, tire life, etc because it's just a Cavalier

Just because it's a cavalier doesn't mean I can't put good tires on it??? I understand it's no lexus, but it does what I need just fine and I'm okay with that. I would still like some tires that have a good rating and safety factor.

I've own normal cars all my life...Accord, Camry, etc...evrytime I needed tires, I just buy the cheapest I can find and they work just fine....and yes I live in Florida.
If you own a sporty car, I can see driving the car harder and therefore wanting to get better tires.

Seriously, if your objective is just normal driving, why must you need to get expensive tires ??

Because the DOT is known for approving all cheap tires, no matter how unsafe. 😛 For a Cavelier, there is no point in spending more than $250 or so on tires. No matter how much you spend on tires, you will still get out-handled by junior on his tricycle.
