There are no homosexuals in Iran

Wow...and some people still have faith in what this guy says? Let me guess, they are pursuing a peaceful nuclear program as well.

Translation: "If you are gay and we find you, we kill you"

I have an idea....

Lets ignore Iran.

No more news articles, no more TV shows, no more threads.

Iran has to know if they ever nuked us or one of our allies, it would be a very bad day for them.

There's an ongoing discussion about that in OT. Anyway Akmadinijad (I can't be bothered to check how to spell that prick's name) is probably right. There are no known gays anyway, since its a known fact in Iran that gay people are CIA or MOSSAD agents and thus must be all killed.

What a moron. Does he actually think people believe this crap?

Of course he doesn't. Don't you see how he was smiling when people boo-ed.

What do you expect him to say? He has to go back to Iran next week, and the Mullah were not going to welcome him with a hug after he said Iran had homosexuals.

Of course theres no gays in Iran, have you tried wearing chaps in that heat? j/k

... I thought it was interesting he said "we dont have that phenomenon like the US" totally avoiding what he WOULD do if there were public gays in Iran.

I dont know how different the Iranian culture is, but I knew lots of Iraqi men who, by the way they acted around thier male friends, would be considered gay by most americans.

I also heard many of them say that sleeping with/and "pleasuring"(never asked specifics) was NOT considered gay, and many of them had done it. When I told out interpreter he would be considered gay in the US he looked surprised and said "men need lovin' too!", I always wondered what HE considered gay.

Like I said I never asked for specifics but I assume it could be similar to many African nations where a male is only considered gay if hes on the "receiving" end of male to male intercourse.

I think it's pretty obvious that there are no gays in Iran.

If there were then maybe Mahmoud could get a decent fucking haircut?

That made me LOL

And quit wearing Members Only jackets!

You see, this is why Akmadinijad should be allowed to speak at Q&A sessions. If he keeps it up perhaps his own people will realize how much of a flaming retard this person is and do something about it.

Just because he's highly educated in certen fields don't mean he's not as dumb as a sack of bricks. (wisdom does not equal common sense)

Yep. There badly needs to be a Queer Eye for the Fundy Guy episode.

People in his country know exactly why he had to say those things.

He is actually very smart. No other way can he stay where he's at really.

For a guy who claims to have no first hand experience with homosexuals because Iran has no homosexuals, would not the better response be what is a homosexual?

Given that Ahmadinijad knew exactly what a homosexual is, it kinda proves he knows more than he is denying.

What an idiot, I posted before, he should have invoked his right to remain silent. Whats that old adage? Its better to be thought a fool rather than open your mouth and prove it.

For the son of a blacksmith, poor guy, born with an iron foot in his mouth. Do they taste better than the silver ones?

He did not say there are no homosexuals in Iran. He said they don't have them like those in the USA. i.e. openly gay, activist, parades, &c. Which is true. That may be because it is illegal and they would be executed but still, it is true. Unless he directly confirms he meant there are no homosexuals then I am not going to jump to that conclusion because it is what I want to hear so as to dismiss him as crazy and deflect from the real issues.

In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who's told you that we have it.

It's a clash of cultures. Are you going to force your laws upon us just because you think gays are not a threat to society?

If you hang them for being gay, then yep, we are. (Here we go!) Hitler claimed the jews were a threat to society. I suppose no one should have interfered there either. *ducks*

Everyone tacitly agreed and did not interfere.

There is a difference between killing for being a jew and being a gay. You have a choice in the latter. Besides, you will have to kill more people if you decide to force your laws on us. Do you believe that anyone that believes that gays are a threat to society and should be hanged should be hanged?

Que? One can neither choose to be a Jew nor a homosexual but one can choose whether to practice either. It has historically been an option to avoid punishment (including exile) by conversion.

<sarcasm> If there were any gays I am sure they'd barely be tolerated if not made the butt of every joke/put down and certainly never be allowed to get married and have their marriages viewed in the same light as normal heterosexual marriages. Thank god we barely tolerate those sinners in our country. </end sarcasm>

I think the humorous aspect to all of this is that the far right in America don't know quite what to say about the issue. They are entirely perplexed! After all, I'm sure a large number of them wish they could hang gays in America too! DOH!

Ironic, isn't it?

That said, the Sharia law against homosexuality - punishment of death - is just one more shining example of the inhumane nature of Sharia Law as a whole. Hence the reason why Sharia Law is not an acceptable option anywhere in the modern world.

Ironic? Not so much. Both hold to the same root ideas from the Middle East at a certain time period. That's more dominant than transitory geopolitical motives.

Modern world? Not so much. Attitudes are are in constant flux. Ancient Rome, for example, was far more open with sexuality of all bents, despite (one would think today) their otherwise brutal nature. Conversly at that time slavery was en vogue whereas it is relatively limited in the strictest sense currently yet also practiced by way of supposedly more genteel means (wage slavery, permanent underclass, outsourcing to the poorest of the poor, &c.) which are actually cheaper than owning (inclusive of supervision, food, shelter, health care, &c.).
