Oh geez, not this argument again. Hating bush is not hating our government system. Hating the war is not hating our soldiers. Hating greedy corporations is not hating capitalism. Questioning our government is not unpatriotic. This topic pisses me off more than anything.

Why do you or perhaps others "hate" all that stuff?
Fine. I'll answer your question by pointing to a thread that not only contains a post of mine that emphasizes what I just said but also qualifies this thread as a flaming *R_E_P_O_S_T*

You have a good sense of humor. I wonder who you were? :p

I am going to pick a Dem this time around. First time actually. Too bad because I remember when conservative principles were more than a front for greed and military imperialism. Now I have to choose the lesser of evils, and I am not happy about that. Bush is either incompetent or dishonorable or both.

At least if a Dem gets in, there is a political balance of power, gridlock if you will. As far as I am concerned, let the pols battle each other.

Nonsense. The right is just as negative as the left, just about different things. Look at all the things the right doesn't like:
  • Goverment (except they do, they just like to claim they hate big government)
  • Welfare
  • Social security
  • Public support of health care
  • Public support of the arts and culture
  • Other social programs
  • Progressive taxation, i.e., paying taxes proportionately to one's ability to pay
  • Any taxation of wealth
  • Government openness and accountability
  • Marijuana
  • Abortion
  • Sex
  • Privacy, especially in the bedroom
  • Personal freedom, e.g., in the bedroom
  • Diversity and personal responsibility, e.g., the concept of changing the channel if you don't like what you see on TV
  • Gays, especially gay marriage
  • Controls on business, except those they find morally offensive
  • Corporate openness and accountability
  • OSHA
  • Unions
  • Minimum wage
  • Protecting the environment
  • Free speech, especially when critical of the right
  • The U.N.
  • Treating other countries with respect
  • Peace
YMMV, of course.

To supplement Bowfinger's post, if you'd like to argue his point, please don't bother referring to anything Bush has done last month. For some reason, he was on a non-conservative streak for a week or two with unexpected policies regarding immigration policy, funding increases to the arts, and other ass-kissing acts.

Both sides are just as negative as they are positive. I don't consider criticism of the president to the be unpatriotic nor does it make you a socialist or a communist. Part of the greatness of our country is that dissent is allowed and that people are allowed to voice their opinion(for the most part). It's not perfect, never will be perfect, and all we can do is give our opinion.

There a a few people on these boards with extremely socialist views, be careful not to point it out unless you want a flamefest :)

Anti US stuff seems to fly around here but once again, they say it's not anti US, just anti whatever yaddda yadda.

Just remember: Republicans are Economic Capitalists and Moral Fascists while Democrats are Moral Capitalists and Economic Socialists. (Straight from my Conservative Econ. Prof.)

Nice example Bowfinger, I couldn't have done better myself. You see you characterize the right as against things when actually it is for things. The left can only spin it into against.

Goverment The right is for states rights.
Welfare, ... for individual responibility as much as possible.
Public support of health care... for a free and more efficient private system.
Public support of the arts and culture... the Constitution which really doesn't support government spending on arts.

etc.

I'm sure you can have some fun with my quick examples and please feel free to do so, but why is it the left needs to characterize it as being against when the right is for things?

Last time I checked, anti-Bush/war did not equal anti-US. So no, it's not anti-US rhetoric. If anything, it's anti-Bush rhetoric. It is possible to dislike Bush, without disliking Americans or the US.

Being a communist or socialist isn't anti-American. The freedom in opinion and beliefs, as well as the freedom of information and sharing of ideas are the foundation of our country.

Not at all. I just get the feeling he's (Romans828 that is) mistaking anti-Bush rhetoric for anti-US rhetoric. Personally I haven't seen that much "anti-American rhetoric". There has been *SOME* "anti-American rhetoric" just like there has been *SOME* "anti-europe rhetoric". But it all balances out in the end.

Actually I think supporting communism or socialism are both in conflict with the republic that we live in. While espousing the virtues of communism yadda yadda may not be, actually trying to implement it would be a different story.

What the hell is this? Some conservative tag-team tournament? Roman, why don't you post something intelligent. From reading your posts, it seems like your critical thinking mechanism is short-circuiting. You say you are not a "blind republican", but your posts indicate that's exactly what you are.

Yes, we are fiscal conservatives and social liberals. We are obviously in conflict with Roman's beliefs.

This obviously makes us socialists.

yep...both sides are "for" something...

just turns out the liberals are "for" increasing your taxes, and "for" spending it to garner more votes.

So you feel that decreasing taxes and pulling the difference out of essential departments and debts is the way to get things done?

NO the best way is to decrease taxes and make our worthless pathetic children pay off the deficits. Now that's incentive to ban abortion!

Communism only works in space, where everyone has to work together or else the spaceship blows up...

But anyway, on earth since there is actual land to own, then ppl will want to own it.
