Agreed. Someone who likes to go out on the weekends and have a good time is not an alcoholic. Someone who likes to go out on the weekends and have a good time and has a few drinks in the process is not an alcoholic. On the other hand, someone who feels that they need to get shitfaced in order to have a good time every weekend *IS* an alcoholic. i.e. binge drinkers.
..I would say that's accurate. The next rung up the ladder is the shot or two to take the edge off a hangover. From there it escalates to an eye opener when they wake up. At that point the hook of alcoholism is set and they start carrying a flask or a bottle is never far. And of course they will tell you they don't have a problem.."just having a drink". Never forget denial is a HUGE part of alcoholism and recreational drug use.
