It's been worth something to me as a place I can go and bone up on current events and, hopefully, be shown where my knowledge/experience may be lacking. I enjoy the humor tossed around. Not too hot on the times where things get too hot, but I understand the "adrenaline rush" of an argument as a lure.

I regularly reed "The Week" to at least have a general feel for events, and don't frequent many news sites on a regular basis.
