Yeah I know I haven't posted much lately, but I'll come out of retirement for a bit to reply to and support the above mentioned proposition.

I vote yes. Guy has helped TONS of people out and asked for nothing. If he doesn't deserve elite I dunno who does.

You know, he and I are on different sides of both the political and the sports divide (cough *I hate all NY sports teams* cough), but I like and respect the guy anyway, so he gets my vote.

It doesn't seem fair that this thread is still open and this guy appears to be on his way to Elite status.

Just the other day, I started a thread nominating DAPUNISHER, Shimmishim, and Warcrow for Elite status, and not only was the thread deleted within 5 minutes, but my thread inquiring as to why it was shut down was also wiped off the boards within minutes.

It appears as though only the Off Topic crowd are given Elite status. This makes no sense whatsoever to me. This is NOT a chat board for nonsense like cars and women! It's a hardware site, and in my opinion, only those who are elitely knowledgeable about computers should be made elite members.

To be fair, I have nothing against ThePrescence and do not even know him, nor am I stating that this thread should be locked. I stand by my POV, however.

Here's an idea, let this thread run it's course first instead of starting another one nominating a bunch of others for Elite. The last thing that is needed is numerous "*** for Elite" threads clogging up FI. You also might want to have an attitude adjustment if you want any person you nominate for the Elite Status to be successful.

They may have a sour taste with respect to you.

First of all, I didn't realize I was violating some kind of "Elite Etiquette" by posting a second Elite Nomination thread, so my apologies for that. I have never seen mention of such a code of conduct around here.

As for your "attitude adjustment" comment, you've confirmed my belief that the Elite status is at risk of becoming meaningless around here. You want me to kiss up to the mods so that people I think are gifted can get special status? No way. I'll put forward the facts the way I see them and let the truth stand for what it is.

I've just been getting frustrated. If the mods had given me an explanation in a PM or something I would not have responded in such a harsh tone. It sounds reasonable that I should wait until this thread runs its course. Just please give my thread its due time when I post it.

I cannot speak to his knowledge or helpfulness to other members on this board... but I can vouch for the fact that he is polite, respectful and raises the level of any thread in which he posts.

From your post in the locked thread:
Please Mods, if you're not going to make them elite, at least spell out what you deem as requirements for 'leetness.

Challenging the Mods (which is what you are implicitly doing) causes a step backwards for you and those that you are trying to promote. Other people that have challenged/called out the Mods have been offered an all expenses paid vacation to an undermined location.

Guilt by association.

Each person for Elite should be judged on their own merits in a standalone capacity.
Trying to merge mutliple nominations has the effect of clouding the evaluation.

It's a classic Catch-22 type situation.

If you want to be elite it means you can't be. And if you don't want to be elite you never can either.

Don't blame me, I don't make the rules. :p

Don't you get tired of pretending to be a mod here? Who made you the police of FI? You respond in every post like it is your personal duty to mankind... /pfft.

For every idiot that posts previously answered items (ignoring the notice that use the Search button), there needs to be a corresponding slapdown.

Olds is a professional slapper.:p
