Theory as to why many veteran posters use just the default avatar

The default avatar, which is the cardboard man looking thing. I think for most frequent or older posters who don't have a different avatar is because it's too much of a hassle to create your own or go fumbling around the net on sites that supply them. And afaik you can't choose a pre made avatar in your profile settings. Anyway I hope I'm wrong about the settings and I can just plop one in from this site.

I don't feel like searching the net for the right size avatar and certainly not going to make my own.
Edit: nm, added an avatar.

No need for me to Google for an avatar. I just use a link from you guys in the thread for the proper size ones. And thank you.

I spent way too much time making the default one square just to discover the alternate themes that made them square...

More users did have custom but gave up or haven't gotten around to changing it after a Xenforo update screwed up the uploaded ones a while back. Plenty of people did use one of the included avatars back in the vBulletin and Fusetalk days (the infamous default/spammer "black man" avatar).

Your stated intention was to explain why veteran posters use the default avatar. And you provided instead a hypothesis of why any poster would use the default avatar without providing any explain as to the difference between veteran and non-veteran posters.

I doubt that you consciously set yourself up like that, which makes me wonder why you did so unconsciously.

(Plus I actually think somewhere in your mind is a theory of what makes veteran and non-veteran posters different in regards to selecting an avatar.)
