I felt it was a bit out of line, I've certainly been warned and even vacationed for even less, so I figured it couldn't hurt to point it out to the moderator staff.

This should link directly to a post where he wishes me dead, and includes a nested quote of him wishing another poster (RedSquirrel) dead.

ps - Is this the preferred method for letting the mod staff know about these things? If directly PMing one of the appropriate forum's mods is the preferred method, please let me know.

And I fail to see a death threat, but I do see you making multiple racist remarks aimed at Muslims.
 
I was watching Cops the other night and the Cop on the show refused to arrest someone accused of threatening to kill another. The Cop said the threat in itself is not a crime. So, wishing someone dead, while not very nice, is not a crime. Also, I have wished internet personas dead before, but not the person. And I've told someone I don't agree with to DIAF.

You guys just need to be careful with that damn internet. It's very dangerous! 😉

This is not more serious than what happens on the internet all the time. Ignore it and don't feed the trolls. Go to P&N and you'll see far worse, as the norm.

Islam is a religion, not a skin color. It's a philosophy and a choice, not something people are born with.
 
One rough guide;

If you have a specific complaint about a specific poster or mod, PM us.

If you have a more overarching, theoretical issue, post it in forum issues.


If you see your non-Senior forum mod on in a smaller forum and/or you think they'd be best to petition, pm them, since they do not have access to the mod PM account. But, most times, your best bet for a timely response is to PM the Mod account.

Additionally, you may always e-mail our esteemed admin, Derek. It's just that this particular volunteer with a demanding day job and a full family has often been indisposed for long periods.

Now, many of you are going to want the attention of posting your personal complaint here, complete with a multi-faceted argument why yours is a question of high principle. Any specific complaint can be tied into a higher question of principle, but PFI is NOT for calling out specific posters or mods.

As for your complaint, our collective testosterone levels and the mods sincere desire not to have to ban 10% of you each day make it maddeningly difficult to know where to draw the line on provocative rhetoric and juvenile posing. Honestly, there are those mods who have little sympathy for OT or P&N or L&R as they are currently run and would love to clean house and apply far stricter standards, but, for the most part, that is not our present direction.

I may be overstepping my bounds here and presuming to speak for our Admin, but he will be addressing you all shortly and will correct me wherever my honest interpretation is wrong.

All this is to say, CKent, my answer to you is to let it slide. Your life was never really in danger. Chalk it up as currently acceptable overblown rhetoric and let it go.

You may well be correct, Bill. But, of all people, you KNOW that Derek wrote all of those rules on the equivalent of a long weekend a couple of years ago now and that we mods, of which you were once a part, have been hashing out and refining what we mean and want in cooperation with Derek when he has been here, in an interactive process this entire time.

In any event, Derek will be posting soon, and then we will all know, and, as I said in my OP, my honest interpretation of our current stance could be wrong.

People really need to get some fresh air, go to the park, see a movie, feed the ducks.......anything but here. It is not specifically about mods. If you were instructed to not refer to something purple as lavender, you (and others) would try fifty different ways to squeak in lavender. I don't remember child developmental psychology well enough to recall the specific level some here are stuck at. I believe it's somewhere around 12yo...
