Reason why I avoid going to cinema. Even if there is good movie. Really rarely everybody quietly watches movie.
Usually teens flash with their mobile phones, sit like monkeys, kids cry, etc.

They regulate this well in our premium theaters...however; one has to speak up usually.

I have gotten in altercations just over petty things like asking someone to remove a hat and then they thinking I have somehow declared war against them.

People are fucking stupid, stupid people doubly so.

My experience with the Avengers was the exact opposite. The entire theater was completely enthralled by the movie -- not a peep in between laughs. The one exception was the family behind me had a couple of ~4-7 year old boys. One of them complained about being cold but dad got him to quiet down pretty quickly.

OP -- your situation could have been resolved in a much easier way.

And don't get me started on Iranians - that's right, Iranians. You are from Iran, not fuckin Persia.

They don't understand that it's all about what you decide to call them; not what they've called themselves for centuries.

The nerve of these fuckers!

I usually go to the 21 and over section in the local theater (you can buy alcoholic drinks up there), and it's typically much better. Although, I did get the people that need to loudly express their feelings over what was going on. An example of such was shouting, "OH DAMN!" or "AWW SHIT!". If it's just during an action scene, then I don't care, because I'm not trying to listen to dialog. However, I missed a few lines of dialog to it this time! :|

Home theaters are pretty nice these days. No cellphones either.

Of course, you aren't going to watch the avengers on your home theatre anytime soon unless its a telesync shaky cam echoing audio copy and if thats the case, no thanks.

I hate going to the movies. Chances are you're going to be sitting in front of someone who's going to be kicking the back of your seat or next to some kid who won't shut up or hell some adults that won't shut up.

Best case scenario you're still going to be inundated with the sound of 300 fat asses chomping popcorn. No thanks I'll catch the DVD/BR when it comes out. I'll get it for half the price of tickets for me and my family and I'll watch it on my 60" flat panel with perfect surround sound. Oh and MY theater serves beer wine and scotch.

We're building a home theater in our basement which will have a proper projector and plush stadium seating. It's the only thing lacking in my current setup.

Movies are going to disc so fast these days this isn't an argument at all for going to the cinema unless you have absolutely zero patience whatsoever.

The problem with most people is that any request or suggestion is taken as a personal insult and an affront. It's like when you honk your horn at someone who pulls out in front of you and you have to slam on your brakes there's a 90% chance you're getting the finger in return.

People can't handle even the slightest criticism. If my kid is acting out I have no problem with someone letting me know. Now if they let me know in the same way the OP did chances are I'm going to be less than receptive and things are going to get confrontational. It never pays to disrespect a guy or his kids or a guy in front of his kids. That will never go down well.

I had to take my 2 year old to the Avengers special screening the day before release, because we couldnt find a babysitter on short notice. He was a bit restless during the trailers, and I was pretty worried he would start screaming or something when the movie starts. Lucky for me, he went to sleep right when the movie started and did not wake up till we were back home. Actually got complimented that he could sleep so blissfully with all that noise and commotion.

I’ve become spoiled with the AMC Dine in place near us to the point I won’t go to a normal theatre. This is yet another reason why, the place is 21+ only.. no kids to listen to, and I’ve seen that the staff isn’t afraid to ask people talking to leave.

The problem is this fight had nothing to do with the kid, and everything to do with the ego of the parents. You can usually diffuse things just fine, but in the instances you can't, you can't let someone spill a drink on you.

You asked for this situation yourself, and you got a drink poured on you for it. When you confront people in a rude manner, even if they deserve to be confronted, you will get a rather rude response. Since you apparently don't know this, I guess both your and this girls parents have dropped the ball on something.

Well everyone bitching about texting during a movie it is only going to get worst. The last movie I saw the preview wanted people to text during the movie to get behind the scene info that you were watching. They use to tell everyone to turn off the phone but that was gone too. I was like WTF who thought this is going to be a good idea. Lets have everyone turn on there bright ass Iphone and get useless info about the movie.

Also all you parents who bring your kid to something like Lord of the Ring need to DIF.

And she thought you deserved to have her drink dumped on you. If you had spent more time thinking about your manners than about what others deserve, you wouldn't have had to deal with that drama.

But maybe you're a drama kind of guy.

LOL. get a clue.

We had a similar situation yesterday while watching Avengers. There were a ton of black people who thought it was a good idea to bring their kids to the movie. There were at least 10 kids under the age of 5 sitting around us. There was a baby crying, and toddlers running up and down the stairs. What a freaking joke.....too cheap to get a babysitter I guess.

OP's fault he got a drink spilled on him. And am I the only one who gets the impression he made a fool of himself in the theater, and then punked out when the husband got in his face?

Definitely not saying it's OK that the kids were being loud -- that is also obnoxious. But the way OP handled it basically guaranteed a shitty outcome for himself. He should have just asked civilly or gotten the management to do something.

No, you didn't HAVE to go, you CHOSE to go. I'm glad that your kid fell asleep and wasn't disturbing to the other moviegoers, though.

I thought this too. People's logic is fucked up today.

I have been to events where it was explicitly stated no children. What do people do? Bring their kids and it's usually the ones we were all hoping would have skipped it.

No, last time I went to the movies was before texting became mainstream.

Which leads me to the point, OP's first mistake was going to the movies.

Oh, haha.

it's that little fucking glowing screen on their phone that keeps popping up in places all over the theater, whenever some jackhole needs to send another "whatU up2 bro?" text to some other jackhole.

Highly distracting.

plus, dudes with their damn blue tooth headset and blinking lights drawing your eye to it all the time.

I have friends who bring their little ones (3 yo, toddler) every where. Its not uncommon for the 3 yo to scream at restaurant because she can't have a spoon or straw. If they didn't bring them along, they'd never go anywhere. I think parents go stir crazy after awhile and just need to get out of the house, even if it is with the kids.

You think that is annoying, try some shitface using their iPhone flashlight app to find a seat in the theater when the movie already started.

I stopped going to theaters in order to keep my stress level down. There are so many assholes with no common courtesy going to the theater, I have no idea how people DON'T get into altercations more often. The last time I went, I had guy behind me that left his phone on and rang during the movie. I said to myself, "ok, he's a fucking idiot but I'm sure he'll just quickly turn it off." Nope, he answered it. Not only did he answer it, he start carrying on a conversation. Not only did he start carrying on a conversation, but he used a normal conversation volume, like he was all by himself. At that point, I turn around and said, "ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME!" He then quickly got out of his seat, and took his conversation outside. WTF?!! Quite honestly, I give people ample leeway. But when I get to the point I have to say something, I fully expect there is going to be a throw down. And no, I'm not going to fucking waste my time getting a fucking manager. This is between me and the shithead that's too stupid to understand basic movie theater etiquette with a total disregard for anyone else.

Anyway, I just quit going to the theaters. I've found it much more pleasant to just watch movies in the comfort of my own home. I just wait for the movie to be released on Blu-ray and just buy it when it comes out. Nice and easy, and a MUCH more enjoyable experience.

I agree with you. However, I think JS80 was saying he'd rather live under a rock than mingle with society.

This is my HUGE problem today. Everyone thinks they are somehow better, not the problem, and important; when in fact they are the lowest tier, rude enough to disrupt any establishment they enter, and if they were to be gunned down wouldn't even be mentioned by name.
