I guess if you have a non-smartphone from 2003, it probably doesn't.. but most teens use a 4," brightly-lit LED screen turned up to "nuclear" levels, casting shadows of their awkwardly-shaped and acne-riddled heads towards the rear of the theatre.

OK that would be annoying. I guess I've made a wise decision for the last 5 years.

No, last time I went to the movies was before texting became mainstream.

Which leads me to the point, OP's first mistake was going to the movies.

I stayed away from theaters for a long time. When I went back for Star Trek I was unpleasantly surprised at all the changes I found.

No theaters for me in over 10 years. The last time I went a dude was on his cellphone talking full voice for 10 minutes. I've never been back.

It happens.
When I was 18 or 19 the gf and I were sitting in our seats in basically an empty theater. Some dude and his gf sat right in front of us when there were plenty of empty seats all over. I loudly made a comment about it thinking they would move, they didn't. I went and got a soda for the gf and my self and as I was scooting by her to take my seat I leaned forward. The lid came off my soda and went down the back of the dudes neck in front of me.
They moved then.

My wife once dumped a bunch of popcorn on some poor guy when she leaned forward while holding one of those overflowing bags they give you. We apologized a ton but it wasn't to big a deal since he was wearing a hat and jacket still...basically just got salted a bit. My wife is...well she's a klutz.

In a packed theater on opening day/weekend, I actually enjoy hearing happy kids talk and the audience react to events in the film (if the film is decent). It feels more like a group experience.

Not one to be racist but the second worst offenders here in they bay area are Indians (dot kind). The males travel in packs, are rude with their phones, and constant yammering.

I refuse to see a movie until its been out for 3 weeks and rarely go to them. When I do - I'm not one to be nice, dirty looks usually do the trick. Sometimes its a "turn the fuckin phone off and quit talking"

3 movies in the past 5yrs.

Classy.

Now here's what a grown-up would have done:

Go out to one of the ticket takers in the hall, explain what is happening, a manager would have been alerted, and the people would have been asked to leave and their money refunded.

See this is how I know you have NEVER done that.
Managers dont like altercations. They dont throw people out of theaters. The most you will get is an offer of free tickets so you can come back and try your luck with the next bunch of assholes.

Uh noooooo......I know to do this because I've seen it done a few times (while waiting for another movie).

This is a modern phenomena, it was not like this when I was a child. Society as a whole is going down hill. Multiculturalism has led to nothing but a complete lack of respect for others.

Plus the fuckers won't get off your lawn.

Definitely not Persians - definitely the dot kind. blk hair, mustaches, and sandals with unkept feet.

And don't get me started on Iranians - that's right, Iranians. You are from Iran, not fuckin Persia.

Home theaters suck too. Wife/GF never stops talking, damn internet on your lap distracting you, constant rewind because you missed what was happening while you were trolling the ATOT forums...can't win for losing ;)

Tried, twice. I know I said above that the employees rock (they do); this is the first time I've been disappointed by them.

Ya. You gotta get the right person, not some kid.

Ask to see the theater manager and supervisor.

Cliffs:

Movie starts (Avengers, PG-13).

Little girl just will NOT shut up, and the parents do nothing.

I turn around, after waiting plenty of time for them to correct the mistake on their own, and tell them to shut their stupid child up. I'm not one for tact.

Movie ends, dumb bitch dumps her drink on me, I stand up and throw mine at her. Husband (boyfriend? Not relevant, they were white trash) gets in my face about hos this was a kids movie. I reply back with "War, killing, and suffering are all part of a kids movie?"

Bitch leaves damn fast once her guy shows up, so it's just him. I tell him that what happened was complete bullshit and I leave. I get free movie ticket vouchers from theater management.

End.

People, even if a movie IS a kids movie, that doesn't mean everyone has to put up with your children talking at their normal volume for the entire god damn show. What bothers me more than anything, though, is that those people left thinking they were in the right. THAT part infuriates me. Fucking useless, average Americans.
That is some straight-up Jerry Springer shit right there.

My wife and kids are famous for that. I'm trying to watch a movie, they're blah blah blah blahing, I get angry, then my wife gets mad at me because I'm angry over a movie.

*sigh*

This is why I try to go off hours like the 1st showing on a Sunday morning when all the Churchies are "in session".

I despise people talking, using their motherfucking cell phones (basically shining a light right into my eyes!!!!) and kicking my chair.

Thankfully even the "prime time" showings at the theater I go to have yet to have any "problem" people and there are employees that actually do monitor the different showings and do tell people to turn their phones off, to stop talking etc. If nothing else they're at least walking in and out often enough that you can grab their attention and ask them to take care of a problem.

I often do ask people to stop using their cell phone if they're sitting in front of me but being nice about it goes a long way also.
