The head of the House Oversight Committee has released sensitive and in some cases classified documents (that may yet see him charged) for political purposes. The Tea Party is the group who held the debt ceiling increase hostage and caused the downgrade of US credit. You'd have to be a massive fucking idiot not to notice the harm the GOP is doing ... wait, just realized I answered my own point with this last sentence based on who I'm talking to.

I'd argue Assad is up there. I mean, who else has killed so many people lately? Syria has the world's attention, WMDs and all.

Just because someone gets a lot of notice and attention doesn't make them powerful. Else Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber would make this list.
