brag time- straight A's thru the entire 4 yrs of HS !!!

Very thoughtful gift! 😀

Just be wary of that PC usurping your crown. You know the old adage:

"PC: teacher...mother...secret lover..."

Thats Television, not PC, so she should be ok. 😉

My post was meant to convey that you don't need to sacrifice your social life to get good grades in HS...it wasn't meant to disparage Geekbabe's son. I just didn't like SampSon's assumption that A-student = loser.
That wasn't implied. Just the lack of normal social life was.

There were plenty of those types at my high school. Maybe it wasn't a "decent schooling system," but I'll guarantee the pedigree of colleges that our gradutes are attending competes with your's.
You can't get straight A's without doing your homework. As for the colleges, they probably do, but what do I care I'm long out of high school and college.

And the public school system is "decent"? Hardly.
There are plenty of phenomial public schooling systems. There are school systems in my area that churn out near college level educations.
Taking the lowest common denominator of the American public schooling system and applying it to all schools is foolish.

Many of my classes lacked "homework," focusing on exams. Some students can show up for class and get As on exams, while others have to slave over homework problems 4+ hours a day to achieve the same result. Don't assume others learn the same way you do.
