Hm, very interesting. Yet, you know that they're going to get ridiculous amounts of business through publicity alone.

I'm sure they sell quite a bit to sports celebrities and idiotic Hollywood types who have more money than sense and are only concerned with appearances, not substance. The higher price = the more evidence of money, regardless of quality. I have to hand it to NoKA for their scheme -- even if they fail at this point, they have surely amassed some serious cash at this point. Heck, I'd take that markup on a pound of chocolate and call myself lucky!

Great article, but that guy is a little obssessed. :)

Reading it now.. regardless, there's no way it could be good enough to pay that much.

at first I had hope that it would progress to be 'this is truly some of the finest chocolates available'
instead, we basically get the summation that, um... the SAME EXACT chocolate can be had from a bar that costs a mere $7.00. wow.

Maybe it's just me, but I kept thinking "It's only chocolate for crying out loud!".

1. Some idiots believe that "you get what you pay for".
2. Some smart people took advantage of this by taking another brand of chocolate, putting it in a fancy box, and selling it for up to $2080 a pound.
3. Profit.

It's no surprise that this profitable scheme was devised by accountants.

Reading is fairly essential. I skipped a few boring parts, but what a scam they are running, not that I blame them. If someone is willing to pay that much for chocolate, they are probably not buying it for the taste.

Never heard of them, and my mother-in-law is the kind of person who'd buy that crap.

Actually, Hershey's at $0.65/bar sounds best. :D

It'd at least be worth to try some Bonnat. I'm sure there is a huge leap over a Hershey's bar, and at only $7.50 its at least feasible to try it out or have a special treat now and then.
