As a dimocrat I really hope the democrats would come up with some people more effective than Pelosi and Reid. Someone more effective that would give the republirats a real reason to howl.

As it is Pelosi and Reid or centrists compromise leadership, and they somewhat bridge the gap between liberal, centrist, and blue dog democrats. And because both Pelosi and Reid fail to alienate any of those groups, they stay as leaders.

But republirats, be careful what you wish for, because you may get far more effective congressional leadership in the house and Senate that can really unite the democratic party.

Just being a 1/4 of the aholes that McConnell and Boehner are would get this damn country moving forward again as the republirats are bulldozed into submission.

It's not that she's ineffective it's that she's a crazy bitch. If she had good ideas and was reasonable and she was a good leader then I wouldn't care what party she was in.

Palin ran for VP, a much bigger public figure then some Dem in power. Also Palin makes women (and the USA) look likes asses on purpose for fame.

Pelosi is just another party bureaucrat targeted by endless manufactured scandals by her political (and very transparent) enemies.

Palin also up and quit being Gov because she couldn't hack it. She deserves every bit of animosity as we came damn close to having a quitter, and a rather uninformed bureaucrat as leader of the free world.

If you cannot see the difference between nobody Pelosi and the almost VP in a recent presidential election I suggest a partisan lobotomy.

You never stop failing, do you? For a nobody, Pelosi sure gets a lot of time in the news.

Not to mention, Palin was a candidate for VP who lost. Pelosi won and is actually right behind VP when it comes to line of succession, should the president die. So you're comparing the pathetic ex-governor of Alaska and VP candidate who lost saying that she should be ridiculed, while the person who actually IS the most powerful woman in the US (3rd in line to the presidency behind Biden) is someone that nobody has heard of and you can't make fun of her because she's a woman.

And LOL at your right wing conspiracy bullshit.

Keep on failing, Steeplebot.

I could be wrong, but I would hope that everyone would like to see good leaders in place, regardless of party. Wouldn't it be better to have good liberals and good conservatives in office than bad ones?

What's telling is that you want good Democrats and bad Republicans in office so that the Republicans get "bulldozed." You don't want good legislation, you want your team to win. The fact is that Pelosi is a good Democrat by all measures. She's a fucking loony and that's exactly what you want. You don't want good leadership. You want partisan politics so you can root for your team.

You're the problem.

Exactly! There is no substitute for good leadership regardless of which party it comes from. Currently we have crap leadership across the board from both partys. If I were an incumbent for either side of the aisle I would be nervous. I fully intend to vote against every incumbent candidate this year. Not one of them have shown me a thing that recommends them for re-election. Only way the message will penetrate their thick skulls is to fire all of them. A crop of brand new first timer congressmen couldn't do any worse than the imbeciles that we keep sending back to washington year after year.

No Bobber, I have little tolerance for a tyranny of the minority. We only have a tyranny of the minority because Reid and Pelosi are spineless wimps. And the American people who overwhelming gave Reublirats the ole heave ho in 2008 are now still stuck in the same GWB stupidity the electorate rejected.

The Republicans are powerless right now. All current failings are Democrats doing exactly what they want to do. You're just too stupid to realize that they're no different than the Republicans.

You are the problem.

Funny how no one except right wing blog readers and foxnews/hate radio junkies even care or know who she is. Must really burn you guys up having a woman to tell the spoiled brats in the minority party to sit down and stfu.

She's only in line for the presidency heaven forbid some disaster strikes and Obama/Biden are unable to fulfill their duties. If you're an American and you don't know who she is, you're not doing your job as a voting citizen.

You have little tolerance for the tyranny of the minority? That's what Democrats are all about. All of the minorities and all of their tyranny. And RedUnderTheBed already pulled out the "You say this because she is a woman" card. That's all anyone does any more.

IT must be my way or you are a racist/sexist/whateverist.

To give some examples of tyranny that needs to go away: Affirmative Action, catering to minorities over others (INCLUDE all, not just one group over another). An example of that is allowing a Miss Black USA. Why not a Miss Hispanic USA and, here it comes, a Miss White USA?

Btw, Republicans aren't any better as a party because they seem to oppress too many others (gay marriage issues, women's right to choose, etc.).

I agree with you, that Reid is utterly pathetic. I have to dissagree completely about Pelosi. If she was ineffective do you think there would be the frothing at the mouth about her. It's the Senate that's completely ineffective and controlled by minority rule. There are approximately 290 bills that the House has passed that are languishing in the Senate.

Do you think this makes you sound smarter, or lend more credibility to your posts? Or do you think it makes you sound like a child?

If you read his post, he was equally derogatory towards the Democrats by referring to them as dimocrats.

To add, your side started it by calling the Democratic Party the Democrat Party in a concerted way about 10 years ago if you didn't notice.

I don't think Pelosi is incompetent, I just don't like her. She keeps saying and doing things that make me not like her as a leader and a person. Now, let the constituency of California elect her all they want, but I don't think she fits as a Speaker. Also I'm still disappointed with her blocking the impeachment of George W Bush who very much should have been impeached after the illegal wiretapping his administration pulled.

It's simple then, the right should quit that shit then. Until the quit the fearmongering based on religion/race/sex people will keep calling them on it.

If anything the people who call it out are proved more and more every day as the right loses touch more and more with reality with the victim complex.

Aww, poor righties, getting called out for being bigoted trash.

Don't like it? Don't be a ignorant embarrassment to us worldwide.

The problem with your position is that Pelosi only needs a raw majority in the House to pass a bill, ole Reid has to overcome a filibuster Senate rule that requires, not 50 but a full
sixty percent. Since the GOP has over forty percent, they can and DO filibuster everything.

And we get gridlock.

Its more powerful and easier to demonize someone on a personal level, than to debate policy differences. If you can destroy the person, you don't need to deal with any facts on issues.

Who's trashing her for being a woman? This thread is about her being a religious nutcase. "The Word?" WTF, get that fruitcake out of office. Or did it give you a woodie when Bush would invoke the Christian God as an excuse for war?

Pelosi is much more what you say you want than Reid is. The House is ready to pass and has passed a lot of good things blocked in the Senate.

I don't think we're likely to get anyone as good as Pelosi if we replaced her. But we don't just have Republicans opposing her, we have some Dems. IMO, ridiculous.

Who do you think is going to be speaker that's better? What are all her 'too-moderate' positions? In fact she has led the House to pass some very good things.

Maybe this current debate will become a dead issue after the election of 11/2010. Judging by current polling, the GOP may become a majority in the House or the Senate, or both.

And then we can have even more gridlock than we have now.

The point isn't just the simple majority versus 60%. It's that the House has passed a lot of good things compared to what even 50 Senators have voted to pass.

Again, Pelosi has been great, and I don't see your criticism here. You aren't saying anything she did badly, you are just saying she is bad because of the Senate it seems.

When you don't support her, partnering with Republicans in opposition so they have a majority, what do you expect to happen?

Do you think Dennis Kucinich is going to replace her?

No, it'll be someone worse likely IMO. She has been our best speaker in a long time.
