Got some machines to setup and sell here. Specs:
AMD Athlon 750, slot A
Gigabyte GA7VM (KX133 chipset)(686A southbridge)
128 MEG PC133 (Infineon chips)
GF2 MX (works fine)
USR 56k PIC modem (hardware, no winmodem, works fine)
Onboard AC97 sound (that's the problem)
So I install the 4-in-1 and audio drivers that come with the motherboard. I forget what version, but they're ancient. Install away..... 4-in-1's work fine,
Then I install the audio driver. System boots, win detects it, and installs the VIA AC97 Audio Controller (WDM) and prompts for the win98SE CD, and the VIA CD, and installs away. You can even hear the speakers sorta click as the audio is initialized. Then it detects the other VIA AC97 Audio Controller (WDM) components, next in line is the jokstick controller or whatever you want to call it. Starts copying files, STOPS. Cant find streamci.dll (and it's not a component of a cab or zip file) I search all new and old drivers I have for the mobo. Nothing. So, what do I do? It says audio is insatlled properly, but it doesnt work. Sound recorder gives that error that no audio devices are installed.
I really need you guys! If there is any more info I can offer, just let me know. I cant figure this out.
