W-O-W. I got this for Christmas from GoGamer and just got around to installing, patching and playing last night and played for around 2.5 hours. Man...I am not sure when I have played a more engrossing RPG. Maybe the Fallout series. The game's atmosphere and writing seem tailored to a mature audience and the environment really comes across as grim. The world just seems so alive. Also, combat is actually fun trying to get your stance and timings just right.
This is the game they strive for a fail when they sit down to make an Elder Scrolls game. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed and finished Oblivion but, at least so far, this game gives you that excited feeling when you are playing that Oblivion never could quite accomplish. It's definitely in line with Gothic I and II and I think by the end will surpass both of those based on my early impressions.
This game is nothing next to Oblivion. Its also *really* buggy with the quests and character interaction. Im reading about Chapter II now (im in III currently) and i missed a *lot* of stuff because of bugs. That being said, its still a really fun game. Be sure to get the no-DVD crack though, the copy protection is shit.
