The Witcher 3 Confirmed

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. The Nexus News released some inside information regarding The Witcher 3, which will be released in 2014.

The game will take place in the Empire of Nilfgaard and will conclude the story with Yennefer.

The studio is also working on a brand new cyber-punk IP planned to be released in 2015.

While not surprising, it's good that they confirmed they are working on it. The new IP should be interesting.

It might be for 2014 what Skyrim is for 2011.

I hope not.. Skyrim blows goats.. unless you are a console kiddy.

horrible consolized game.. that should have gotten it's own PC version with far more polish and a more friendly UI and far higher graphics options.

right now the UI and the look of it is a total turn off the controls make it flat a pain to play which is a total turn off..

played 8 hours and even modded it.. and it's still not even close to the experience TW2 is..

I hear a patch is coming out today for Skyrim ,it should fix some issues.

To each their own.:colbert:

there is no patch that can fix the controls.. and consolised crap they put in the PC version..
it would have been really easy to throw a flat PC version with an MMOesc menu and control system that would have made the game far better..

BTW the patch is garbage.. go read Kotaku and the Elder scrolls forums.. the new patch broke alot more stuff..

I give it 3 days after they release mod tools, we'll have a fully working PC UI.

This is exactly why I held off buying Skyrim. I got burned buying Oblivion day one and vowed not to do the same with Skyrim. I'll wait a year or so once some mods are out that at least somewhat differentiate it from a console geared title.

Damn, stoked now. Finally finished TW2 this past weekend and thought the ending was wide open. Now I have to wait until 2014 for TW3. 🙁

Lets not turn this into a Skyrim bashing thread though. We all now its basically Oblivion, if you disliked Oblivion, you'll dislike Skyrim.

I loved Oblivion..it was a better game..

Wow, really? That doesn't get my hopes up for Skyrim much. Maybe i'll wait till it hits $10 on steam instead of $20, haha

We do have Risen 2 to look forward to next year, so i'm fine waiting on Skyrim to get "modded up" a little.

Oh, and sorry to go so off topic.. but i'd highly suggest playing through Nehrim (a mod for Oblivion), if you haven't already. I enjoyed it much more than vanilla Oblivion.

It's just him. Oblivion is inferior in nearly every aspect to skyrim, as expected given it came out 7 yrs ago. The interface is fine in skyrim (no not ideal, but workable and it looks fine), combat is worlds better, world is million times nicer than earlier games, yadda yadda.

Like I said if you are a console gamer yes it might be fine.. but for a AAA PC title is is a bargain bin at best..

400+ hours in Oblivion.. could not put it down.. 8 in Skyrim and alerady removed from the drive and forgotten.. rather play TOR, BF3 or even SR3 at this point.

TOR as a MMO is 5x the RPG that Skyrim is.. and that's saying something as usually a single player RPG will always trump an online one.

Bunk. Both games were developed for the 360 and its ~8yr old graphics hardware. Screen shots I've seen are very very similar. Witcher 2 brings modern hardware to its knees and actually delivers on the visuals too, unlike the CoD sequels that see system requirements jump 20% and look the same.

Edit -

On a side note, they are also working on a new project that is more futuristic and cyberpunk, which will be covered later as new information comes.

With the decline of Bioware, is CDProject now the top RPG developer?

Actually...Oblivion was for the Xbox, not the 360. I'm not sure which platform it was actually designed on (xbox or pc), but PC "looked" better.

I'm not a console gamer, and nope don't care. Shrug, you don't like it fine sucks for you.

I just meant in terms of world design. Oblivion was pretty similar throughout, Skyrim varies a lot more as you walk around. Graphically not as good as it might could be, but that's a whole other discussion.

wrong 360.... way after the Xbox's demise.

and PC did NOT look better until the mod teams came out with high res texture packs.

Thanks. Well, I guess i'll find out for myself in a year or so. Just too much on my backlog to even consider it at this point.
