I know it's a nitpick but I wish it weren't letterboxed. Apparently the creator wanted it to look like a TV show, so he insisted that it be letterboxed. Not a huge deal but it annoys me a bit. I have the entire DVD set (got it as a Gold Box deal a few months ago), but have only just started watching it.

I'm confused. Do you mean he wanted it to look like a movie?

I think he's referring to the 4:3 aspect ratio. On the DVDs you get the usual black bars on the sides because of this.

Correct. My post could have been clearer.

I have a 50" set, so even 4:3 programming is still plenty large, but it's still a little annoying.

where in the hell do you live that you didn't hear about the Wire? What next, Casablanca is a nice movie? Has anyone got an opinion on The Godfather? I heard Michael Jordan was a nice player of some sport, but I 've never heard of him so i can't remember which one. Any thoughts?

I remember hearing about the Wire several years ago, but I thought it got canceled halfway through it's 1st season.

Nope, went 5 seasons with it ending last year.

The wire is really one of my favorite deep space nine episodes and it really helped solidify the bashir / garak relationship quite nicely.

oh wait a minute...

The Shield was better, but I liked the Wire as well

The Shield was terrible. It had no depth whatsoever, just a large, angry white man.

are you kidding? The shield was probably the most tense show/movie/anything I've ever seen.

I feel sorry for you if you thought that season was good 🙂 . After watching the first 4 3x through, I don't think I even watched all of 5 once because it was so bad.

I get what they were trying to do with the whole decay of B-more: drug trade base, how the drugs get here, where the money from the drugs goes, how the kids grew up into that in the first place, then how the media sucks. The first 4 are all good, I just don't give a damn about a shitty newspaper.
