I just installed another windows xp pro with no issues in activation or updating. I will just be using this one for playing my fav games offline.
That's good news! No cumulative 99 hour delay?

I just bought a "new" 2005 Dell with Windows XP Home / Pentium M 1.7Ghz / 2GB Ram for $69 and threw SP3 on it so far. I wonder how well it will work if I turn on Automatic Updates this time. Any bets? :awe:

what i had windows xp wasn't automatic but notify me but don't automatically download or install them which gives me more control.

not sure if anyone has said this yet, but with client comps, we install the "internet explorer 8 online-update .exe" (available download from microsoft or other websites), sp3 should be installed first, however.

that way the webpage can successfully load correctly. other cases, keeping the system while auto-update/install-on-demand is configured will automatically download updates and install them right away (after proper user prompts)
