As of 2015 44% of all persons 18-34 are minorities. Here is the photoshoot of Trump's/Republican latest class of interns. I would think knowing the population it takes effort to get this group.

Maybe it's more a matter of minorities making a conscious effort to refuse to intern so long as Trump, along with his very vocal supremacist racist supporters, are in control of the White House?

Yes, that could add the the low total. I agree.

100+ people and I see two brown faces, and possibly one Asian and a Latino. Looks like 22 are females.

Maybe you want black/latino/asian interns to be forced into serving in the Trump white house? That's the ticket! Force them to serve!

With 22 females maybe you can bring Clinton back to fuck them with a cigar in the oval office?

I totally agree to have them forced into serving while Trump is president...............as part of their sentencing for crimes committed against the people, up to and including grand theft, shoplifting, drug offenses, date rape and voter fraud. ;)

Most minorities are poor in the US, and all that would imply: broken family/shitty childhood, malnourished, poorly-educated, uninspired, unlikely to work at the white house, or in washington, or in politics. This supply problem combined with the aforementioned undesirability to work there currently means that it can't be said to be affording proof of anything re Trump.

All it does is remind us how crappy poor people have it in the US. Trump didn't create this. Before you attack him personally, at least wait until the pictures from the intern class of 2037 come out.

Well. They have one token black. Unfortunately there is only room for one so there shall be an old school style duel in the Rose garden to solve this issue.

that has to be the most chaotic workplace ever. the don't know whats going on, the bosses don't know whats going on, and policy is determined by sudden twitter diarrhea. its probably for the best to spend their time figuring out how to discreetly leak info and screw around on social media.

Strange how easily Democrats are able to recruit people of color to be their interns despite their broken families, malnourishment, poor education, and lack of inspiration. We should all be in awe of their amazing achievement in finding so many brown people who want incredibly prestigious jobs where they make valuable lifelong connections.

Oddly, Republican congressmen seem to be having a similar problem to Trump. Maybe the minorities in their districts are just extra malnourished.

I went back and looked at pics from the Obama White House interns. The biggest shift isn't in race; the biggest shift is in gender. Young women don't seem to want anything to do with Trump.

and in these pictures we see the reason affirmative action is still needed.

The majority positions of power and influence in this country are occupied by white people. Regardless of the diverse population pool white people are choosing other white people.

Republicans are maintaining the status quo.. Democrats are saying let's make an effort to choose a pool that more represents the diversity that is this country.

Honestly I think it's just more that the Democratic Party's demographics include a lot of nonwhites and the Republican Party is increasingly becoming an all-white party. In 1992 the GOP was only 9 points more white than the electorate as a whole. Now they are 16 points more white.

Republicans are heavily underrepresented in every nonwhite ethnic group and heavily over represented among whites.

The Trump intern photo is appalling but likely reflects on how minority candidates may not want to work with those racist clowns in the white house.
Don't think for a second there aren't well qualified minority candidates for these positions either.

Bringing up bill clinton in light of trump levels of behavior towards women is like accusing hillary of lying in light of trump, or accusing anyone of almost anything deviant in light of trump for that matter.

Interestingly (and I've seen this in other places too), affirmative action isn't needed when the program/object you're attempting to diversify isn't innately hostile towards the groups you're trying to diversify toward. Essentially, 'if you build it, they will come' is alive and well here.

There's no need to force/encourage non-white people to work in the white house as interns or otherwise, you just have to make it not a caustic cesspool of hatred and bigotry and, amazingly, a roughly equivalent percentage of the US population will be represented.

It's awesome when a picture of the current WH intern staff is showing and the current administration is called racist because the selection of interns is not dark enough but not a peep or questioning about Obama's intern class picture as an accurate selection of individuals. As it has been pointed out, "minorities" tend to not have a strong representation among GOP leaning individuals.

I think it's more likely that non-whites and women just don't want to be interns in the Trump administration. When his policies declare war against everyone who isn't a white, straight Christian male, why would anyone else want to help him?
