Ok guys.. we have 4 tech machines here at work and 3 of them are Celeron 400s running Windows 2000 Pro. The other machine is running Win98SE. Here's the problem: the CPU fan turns off once the computer boots into the Windows 2000 screen. That's right, it just shuts off. The Win98SE box is fine..

The fan is plugged into the motherboard header and not directly to a power supply connector. I've checked through some of the BIOS settings and haven't really came across anything other than disable cpu fan on suspend, but that did not help. I'm guessing it might be specifically related to W2k though, since the 98SE computer is just fine..

Running RC5 that heatsink gets DAMN HOT.. I have never seen a heatsink that hot before: it literally burned my finger. Help save these CPUs. :D

I've read it here before that sometimes those header goes wacko. Have you tried other header on the motherboard and does the same thing?

I would immediately get them plugged into the P.S. connectors with an adapter and troubleshoot after.

They're BCM mobos (and no, I didn't pick the mobos) :D

Turns out it was a BIOS update. Go figure..

Thanks for the help anyway guys. ;)
