The we LOVE Costco thread

Well today I decided to repalce my 3 year old cell phone but I didnt think it was going to go my way, boy was I wrong. I first went to the Sprint store cause I figured I was going to have to go that route and boy was I wrong again.

I was looking at getting the LG225 but the way they do these deals in the store really blows. I would have to sign a new 2 year contract to a HIGHER plan and have to pay money out of pocket for the phone and then accessories. I have been with Sprint for a long time and know how they handle upgrades so I wasnt looking forward to it.

After spending some time in the store I brought up the fact my last phone came from Costco and well I thought they no longer sold phones at Costco, the lady in the print store said they are still there. So off I went to see what they had. I go in and after talking to the people at the booth I figured I would see what they would do for me.

This is where it gets REALLY good, for those that dont know the Costco return policy is UBER GOOD. I took my 3 year old phone which comes with all the accessories back for a FULL refund. Got my new phone the Samsung A900 (their solution to the Razor) a 329.00 phone for 86 bucks out the door and once again I have all the accessories with it. I also only paid 150 for the phone I took back cause atthe time the phone was 250 bucks but they gave me 100 credit on my bill.

So in the end a 150 phone netted me a 269 return credit towards the new phone at 329 for a grand total of 86.20 out of pocket. 😀 I could take this one step further and sign a new 2 year contract and get a 150 mail in rebate, it requires upgrading to a plan thats 5 bucks more a month so over the 2 years I would still make 30 bucks if i wanted to do it lol.

All you did was ensure that Costco will have to raise prices in the future and probably have to change their return policy eventually.

Costco will no doubt change their return policy in the future because of losers like you.

Hopefully karma will work its magic and blow up your head w/ the new cell phone.

No I am not trying to save face the phone wouldnt stay charged longer then 2 days, even on standby, after also trying new batteries it still didnt work. I wanted to share how great they treat customers not rip off Costco. The people in the store are the ones that said return it. The guy even said the pin that the charger plugs into have a tendency to break but I told him its always charges to full it just doesnt hold the charge so he said its probably the phone. It is my faultfor making it sound like I was doing this as a scam but I assure you thats not the case.

 Costco's return policy rocks.

I returned a car battery a few months back that had died due to being deep discharged one too many times. I was fully expecting not to get anything for it but they ended up giving me a full refund. I asked the clerk if that was standard practice and she said yep, as long as it's returned within 3 years the refund is 100%. So then I ask, what if people just keep returning them every 3 years, they just have batteries for life? To my amazement she said yep that's what some people do. I said wow and she just shrugged her shoulders heh.

That and their corporate policies is why I continue to shop there instead of places like Walmart or Target.

I am pretty sure they have all this worked into their pirces and how they run the company. I have been with Costco for 13 years thats 6k worth of fees, so I dont think me returning ONE item in 13 years is gonna ruin the world, and I do apologize for not being more specific in my reasons for taking the phone back.

Doesn't matter. The phone started dying due to normal wear and tear and not due to a manufacturing defect. Returning it is no better than straight up theft.

dont think op is the wosrt offender. i had a friend who used to get a new computer every few years (now its 6 months and i think he gets a new computer every 6 months). nothing you can really do. saw someone return a bike (which had dirt and other crap on it).

costco is relatively profitable and walmart cannot beat them with sams club. i think their return policy actually helps the in the long run.

Lol get a clue man seriously, THEY SAID RETURN IT. Lets see I get a LIFETIME warranty on auto parts, now the part goes bad from normal wear and tear so I take it back and get a new one, they give the lifetime warranty for what reason so people can come on message boards and get flamed, or they do it to keep customers happy and obtain business for future purchases? I will guess the latter of the 2. Next your gonna say my ONE return is the reason for the high gas prices eh? I followed what THEY said to do I paid MORE money out of pocket for a new phone and I continue to believe in buying from Costco, yep thats horrible business.

A warranty doesn't generally cover failure from normal wear and tear, it covers manufacturing defects.

Who cares if the phone was not working anymore. This was after 3 years. You are an idiot. They should revoke your membership.

So here's one. You know how Costco sells cars? How about you go buy a BMW M3 from them, drive that off a cliff, then return the car for a full refund?

Except they don't sell cars. They have an auto program that helps you find a car and they just negotiate on your behalf.

I've seen people return dead flowers at Costco.. Been thinking of "trying" some equipment too (D50, LCD TV, etc..), but I never go through cause I don't want to be an asshole. 😱
