Here's a post of mine from the recent thread about an op-ed piece criticizing Fox News:

Well, I've read this entire thread and found nothing I didn't regret reading. It's the never-ending dance of The Usual Suspects In The Usual Ways.

Our self-described "conservative" posters on here are no more insightful or relevant than the self-described "liberal" posters, and each resorts to the same tactics and rhetoric as the other. The comfort and assurance your beliefs provide does not, to an outsider, outweigh the general idiocy you all display in equal measure.

In every respect you all serve as Exhibit A of why Democracy in general, and our Constitutional Republic in particular, fantastically and completely sucks. If only there were a better alternative.

And in the same tradition I've formed a very similar view of The Usual Suspects across all threads in ATPN, not just in that one.

It's always The Usual Suspects spewing idiotic generalizing rants about "progressives" or "conservatives", as if they have the credentials or experience to form any relevant insights into such broadly defined groups of people.

It is also always a game of tit-for-tat that would be funny (and, therefore, of some value) if it weren't executed in so much of an "elementary school playground" way. Someone you disagree with starts a thread that casts your "side" negatively, so you have to find something to post that casts their "side" negatively. The loyalty comes off as appearing to be with your chosen side rather than to the truth or to reality or to something else that's greater than yourself. Some of The Usual Suspects are more nuanced at times, but that nuance is always used to dismiss the concern or issue that someone else raised simply because there is nuance.

That's the way it is, I know, and I must either accept it and move on, not browse ATPN anymore, or start ignoring people. The jury's still out on which way I'll go. I fully recognize that by even posting this I'm doing only slightly better than those of you I'm criticizing and I also fully recognize that I'm certainly not gifted with supreme knowledge or insight on any issue, but I certainly have enough to see.. for what it is.. the vast childishness, selfishness, and overall inanity that The Usual Suspects demonstrate.. without fail.. every day.

Talk to me then, I R smart!

That's debate. At least it is something we can do freely. I'd rather have idiots spewing back and forth than silence.

Just accept it!!!!

FOX news is as valid as the people who tune in.

I dont particularly like the network news or the people on FOX. It seems to me personally, that the people on FOX that do the news are so fake. While the people on the other networks are more polished and realistic, even though most of them are liberal hack jobs. After listening to Limbaugh and to Doctor Savage, I can see straight through what news people are saying to see that they are all a bunch of phonies.

Learn to think for yourselves.

Feel free to watch the shows that brainwash you and lie to you if you want to. Just realize that almost everything on network news is a misrepresentation of the truth.

Suuure you are. 😉

Well, it's not debate, actually. It's Internet bloviating.

I'm not so sure which I'd rather have.

Yea, I understand what you are saying. Just walk away from it all for a little bit. The more political articles I read the more awful and corrupt I see everyone on both sides is. So screw them, I'll just work and take care of myself the best I can.

People on the internet are indeed retarded, but that is the atmosphere. Arguing about politics is almost as ridiculous as politics itself. Some people don't have the maturity to accept defeat or a fault in "their side" and others don't have the good grace to be civil and back off when it is necessary.

There are gems in the garbage dumps of replies from the p&n threads I've read. Arguing in person is so much better, no?

I just checked the Fox News lineup and don't see Rush Limbaugh or Savage on it. But don't let the facts get in the way here.

Expected to be called out on your factual errors? You have some low self esteem. You should probably talk to Moonbeam he can help.

Except it wasn't his "factual errors," it was another poster named Piasabird. Furthermore, from reading Piasabird's post, I'm not so sure that he said Limbaugh or Savage are actually on Fox.

Well stated. Its been that way for years and its very old.

I took Piasabird's post to mean that Limbaugh and Savage had given him insight allowing him to see through phony newscasters. Funny how differently people read things. Although I can't understand how anyone can listen to Savage. Although I agree with much that he believes - particularly that borders, language, and culture define a country - I find him so personally repugnant that I can't listen even for a few minutes.

If they are getting annoying with their regurgitated talk radio just put them on ignore.

I will save you trouble of reading the endless sociopathic greed and faux outrage.
