The following was written by Professor Alexander Fraser Tytler shortly
before our original 13 colonies gained their independence from Great
Britain.

He was speaking of the Athenian Republic some 2000 years before.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only
exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse
(generous benefits) from the public treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising
them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a
democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a
dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

These nations have progressed through this sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependence;
from dependency back again into bondage."

in modern terms this is welfare, tax write offs and tax rebates

Yes, it is logical to assume that what happened in Athens over 2000 years ago applies to America today.

BULLSPIT. The national debt would be a long way to completely retired if a few thousand votes were different in Florida in 2000.
In fact more than half the Republican votes in 2000 were voting for the "fiscal responsibility" that Bush and ever Republican said they were going to do.
I think over 60 percent of Americans want fiscal responsibility. Which they were tricked out of by Bush and Republicans.

I added this after you posted. Here it is again:

In fact more than half the Republican votes in 2000 were voting for the "fiscal responsibility" that Bush and ever Republican said they were going to do. Add that to the Democratic votes for fiscal responsiblity (locked box, pay down the debt).
I think over 65 percent of Americans want fiscal responsibility. Which they were tricked out of by Bush and Republicans.

Reagan started the concept of NAFTA. Bush I cultivated it and Clinton signed it. Now Bush II has done CAFTA, working on TAFTA (watch pickup trucks stop being produced in the US once this happens), and a host of others.

Dependency FTL!
