Ohh well, maybe it's not produced any more.

Still alive and kicking. Great motor. I have the series one in my Buick.

But to make the list the motor has to cost more than the car does so not many american motors will make it. Even if they make more power, get better gas milage or even dare to say don't cost a arm and a leg for basic stuff, its american.

i'd beg to differ. The accord's motor made the list.

You ever price anytbing from a Alt. to a valve cover gasket for a Honda? I have, I work on them and all other cars out there. Now its not as bad as a BMW or such, but still up there. And don't even get me started on how much Honda charges for parts for there Bikes. I have a 86 Honda Shadow. If I had the money it would be a Harley, but I wanted something to play with, and it was cheap enough.

Ahh- I see what youre saying- the cost of replacement parts. I agree but check this out
http://applications.edmunds.com/products/tco/TCOintroController?id=lin9167

and just so you know the 3800 has been on the list before.

BTW: Cost to fix the passenger side door handle on a 93 Astro: $180. $130 for the part, $50 for labor.

-PAB

Wait, you paid $180 to fix a handle on a truck you bought for $200...

Ahh, if you're talking about the cost of replacement parts for an import, yes they are going to be a little more expensive- but those market conditions are constantly improving, i mean there are a ton of imports on the road..I don't think they even took that into consideration for that list. Take a look at this though

Nope. We paid $180 to fix a handle on a truck that we bought for $200 AFTER we spent $200 replacing the high pressure PS hose, radiator hose, and an oil change.

Now I am confused again. You PAID someone to change a radiator hose and PS hose? The PS hose for my Prelude was $18. The high flow radiator hose for my truck was $49. The PS hose I can understand having someone else do, as it is not exactly easy, but the radaitorYou really need to take some auto classes, then you can save more money. Sadly, RossMAN now gets my vote for Ferengi of the year 😀

That just tells me how little you truly know about manufacturing. Since the 1960's, American Engines were made with cheap Japanese parts and built in manufacturing plants in Mexico. Japanese Engines (such as Hondas) are built with high quality parts from America (Ohio, Mich. etc). That is why Honda remains the leader of all engine makers from lawnmower engines all the way to industrial engines....because they use mostly American made material and American skilled labor.
I really find this all quite hard to believe. Is there someplace that I could read up on this stuff?

I AM OUTRAGED!

WHERE IS THE INTEGRA TYPE R ENGINE? DOES HP/L COUNT FOR NOTHING ANYMORE???

Getting back to reality, i'd have to say the list is pretty good. The only engine i'd take off that list is the RSX Type S engine, replacing it with the V10 TDI in the new VW Touareg. 🙂

Unfortuneately we do not have a lift, nor adeqate toolage. Getting to that radiator hose was going to be a bitch even with the proper tools. Ever see the engine compartment of an astro? Holy hell sums it up IMHO. The engine is practically halfway into the passenger compartment.

Besides. We trade food for auto repair with him.
