I already cleared this up, When I say the US is a Christian country I mean that the majority is Christian, I dont mean that its the official religion.

But what you either don't realize or conveniently forget is that a majority of that majority don't practice any religion, let alone their own proclaimed Christianity, but don't really care enough to get involved with stupid "issues" like this.

As always, it's a very vocal minority trying to speak for the majority on an issue most of then couldn't give two shits about.

Whether or not they are `real` Christians is a debate for another thread. The majority admit they are Christian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_States

This is not a stupid issue because this has been going on for some time and the secular progressives who are behind this need to stop.

I claimed to be a Christian for years after knowing to myself that I no longer was out of peer pressure. That doesn't mean that I cared one bit about anything that religious leaders spoke about and I cared even less what the sheep following them were claiming to be victims of.

And this sense of entitlement that you and those feeding this persecution complex are experiencing is what should stop and the rate that it is being separated from our government and the publicly controlled areas should be quickened because too many of you feel that your own beliefs in an imaginary father figure trumps everyone else's right to not have it shoved in our faces.

It has been going on for some time. In fact, celebrating Christmas was made illegal by the Puritans in Massachusetts from 1659 to 1681 due to its pagan origins of Saturnalia.

PURITANS FIRED THE FIRST SHOT IN THE WAR ON XMAS!!!!!!

HEY! You won! It's Christmas today! The War is over for another year!

Go eat some ham.

Your right, I and all the others won the war on Christmas and now that today is Christmas its over until next November when it starts up again.

The reality is that this war on Christmas is part of a bigger Culture War so while the war on Christmas is over the other wars are not even close.

Bill O' is that you?

No, I agree with Bill O`reilly on certain issues but not all of them. It is pretty obvious there is something going on to destroy the culture and tradition.

You know what usually propagates that kind of change faster than anything....access to information/knowledge!

Why continue something just because it has been a "tradition"? Doing something over and over just for the sake of doing it because everyone you knew before you did it for the same reason doesn't mean that what you are doing was ever the right thing to do in the first place.

Sometimes personal growth and acknowledging that some traditions are simply wrong and/or outdated is more important than going along with the crowd. Even at the risk of some that refuse to let go calling you a heathen, heretic or "destroyer".

Gotta keep posting this, arguing with Incorruptible is useless.
Please stop feeding the troll.

Incorruptible

As I referenced in your other idiot thread, every church I saw today was closed. They probably know not to be open today and interfere with their congregation's pagan plans for the day. I doubt they could compete anyway. The pagan stuff is too much fun.

So there are some posters who said there isn't a war on Christmas because people are still decorating houses and other things but this article really explains the issue in that its a war on Christmas but its really a war on Christ and Christianity and thats why people are trying to make the day more secular.

The article explains everything

What a minute. Hold the presses. You mean to tell me a secular country is trying do something secular? HOLY SHIT

So if other people get offended, they should just get over it... but if something offends you, it's a serious issue and people must bend over backwards to make sure they don't offend you again?

America!

The difference is this about Christmas, its a lot more than offending, its an attempt to secularize the holiday and its part of the culture war. As well you dont even notice the difference. When people say happy holidays to people who celebrate Christmas its not being offended but an attempt to snub them of their day and make it more secular.

The last time I checked most people in this country celebrate Christmas

You're making shit up, again.

How do they celebrate Christmas? Is it by going to church/mass? Or is it by covering their house in twinkling lights, decorating a tree, baking cookies with their families and telling their children that a big fat man in a red suit snuck down their chimney in the middle of the night and left them presents? That latter version of Christmas is hugely secularized already, to the point that the entire religious meaning of Christmas has been replaced with an inundation of "Only __ shopping days left until Christmas!" before you've had a chance to digest your Thanksgiving feast. You want to talk about the war on Christmas? It isn't the people saying "Happy Holidays" who have changed the meaning of the holiday, it's the marketing executives who have done a bang-up job replacing Jesus with Santa over the past 60 years. Christmas, the celebration of the birth of the Christ, has turned into the biggest commercialized shopping event of the year, something which Jesus probably would have abhorred. The "War on Christmas" isn't someone saying "Happy Holidays," it's the replacement of your messiah with products, and it's a war that was lost a long time ago.

But, yes, clearly it's the "Happy Holidays" that really changed the meaning of Christmas.

These days it starts before most have finalized their Halloween costume selections.
