So, apparently the answer to how long Carol would last on his own is a few hours. Almost dies twice taking on 4 of them...

I really dont get Mischone waling with her pet walkers in the mini-herd. soooo what protected her from the walkers not attacking her? the leash?

carl eating the pudding on the roof with the walkers arm waving around behind him through the window was a great scene.

She kind of explained it before. When she was walking around with her boyfriend and his friend...they were kind of like escorts. The other zombies didn't seem interested for some reason.

Right? It amazes me how hard people are on Carl. He's a kid who is trying to prove that he is just as capable as everyone else. When the apocalypse started, he was a lot younger and he has grown so much since then. If anything, Carl is representative of a lot of people's kids. His attitude about showing his worth and his arrogance is typical teenage behavior.

I don't understand why the incapacitated zombies don't make any attempt to attack Michonne. Wouldn't they still try to lunge at her? We have seen "incomplete" walkers try to nom on survivors.

I was expecting Carol to show up and save the kid, but very glad the writers avoided that cliche.

She explained that in a previous episode. Removing their arms and mouth removes their compulsion to eat you just like sterilizing an animal will often make it significantly less violent.

Maybe if the guy who plays Carl wasn't such a horrible actor, that character might have been more interesting. As I watched the show last night I kept hoping that one of the walkers would finally get a good chomp out of Carl (knowing of course that it wasn't going to happen). What an idiot, you just knew as he was luring the two walkers away from the front door, walking down the street and down the street that he was going to get into trouble.

The little moron needlessly fires his gun, wasting bullets and attracting every walker from a mile around.

That's one of my pet peeves with Rick and some of the others. they walk around with a gun when clearing a house. It's fine to have a gun as a last resort, but it should not be the primary weapon, a sword or axe or something would be your first weapon. If all else fails you use the gun.

Anyway, I thought the first of the back 8 episodes was pretty good. Glad the stupid governor is finally gone, and from the previews of coming weeks it looks like there will be separate stories of different groups from the original core that got scattered. Could be good.

I've been incredibly annoyed with their choice of weapons since the beginning of the series. A spear is the ideal weapon, IMO. They are easy to make and maintain, have range, and aren't completely unwieldy. The guns should be exclusively used on other humans and possibly in situations where you have absolutely no choice.

He is constantly trying to prove how he isn't a kid though, and completely failing. There was an entire season based where the only action was "Carl left the house again!". This episode was supposed to be Carl growing up, but all it showed was he was still a child. He wastes bullets, needlessly endangers himself, is arrogant when he shouldn't be, and still demands the respect of someone like Daryl or even Carol (whose character was far, far more interesting and developed; I hated her at the start of the show more than the kids, and I hate kids).

I think the point was to show Carl was still a kid and needed Rick.

I'll also say that this was another EP where other people I know loved it and I was left wondering if I was watching the same thing as it was so bad.

I thought the episode was alright, nothing great. The previews for next week's episode looked much better.

The backstory flashback/daydream/whatever that was from Michonne had me thinking they might off her. Would follow the typical pattern of build up a character's backstory right before killing them off.

And that isn't her real hair. I had never watched the Talking Dead, but I finished the episode about half way through this one (DVR ftw) and wtf, she doesn't have dreads?
 
Ok episode, but pretty boring in parts. I thought they were starting to go into Lost territory with the flashbacks there, but then it was just a nightmare.

I actually liked Carl in the first half of this season, after hating him in prior seasons, but this episode brought him back into that annoying territory. It did serve the purpose though, so I guess I understand why they did it. I really liked the very end of the episode.

I am very disappointed with the first episode of the season return. I try to be extremely optimistic about this series but nothing happened except a short look into Michonne's past.
