In reality though, you would still need a supply of quality bolts. He has sent hundreds of bolts down range at zombies and not been able to pick them back up. That means picking through homes for bolts... which probably is not very productive. So you would have sporting good stores which may or may not have decent supply of bolts versus standard bows and arrows.

You could make your own, and at least you'd be able to find the supplies for points and such more readily than bolts.

*But this is T.V. I think they've shown plenty of time him recovering his bolts so at least they sort of address part of the problem.

In the show's universe, zombie heads are soft enough a person can smash it with pretty much anything. So, a bolt isn't likely to break upon hitting a zombie and he does recover them a lot.

I agree, it isn't the best choice, but it isn't a horrible one. You can remain quiet and kill things at a distance. Making bolts isn't something entirely out of the realm of possibility and it is easier to have ready to fire than a bow.

A good compound bow is likely your best bet, if you are proficient with it. You can make arrows in your spare time, at least ones viable for shorter range shots, and you can hunt at range. Few things are going to beat a good AR-15, but bullets will only become increasingly hard to find as every day passes.

Ohhhhh....

Why'd they focus so much on the corpse on the slab?
He was the Termite who has leading Rick's group in Season 4 finale, before Rick noticed the Termites had various gear and equipment from their group. Rick tried to take him hostage but was shot by his own people. The season premiere also mentioned that he was Gareth's brother.

I figure the point that they were trying to make is that the Termites will eat anybody, even their own.

They showed him making new bolts while everyone else was dicking around on the farm during season two.

great opening episode.
Let's hope carl's role remains as minimal as it was in this episode.
I forgot what happened to the blond girl, did she get kidnapped?

Lastly the issue of the "human genome project"... well I guess we can't expect the writers to have any scientific background but why not hire a couple of grad students for payment of "you get to hang out on set that episode" so we don't make mistakes like that. Replace "human genome project" with bioweapons division at some 3 letter secret agency and it suddenly becomes more believable.

I was thinking more like a whole new series based in a different area of the country.

only if they can think of a storyline that doesn't center around human vs human with the zombies as window dressing.

people fighting each other is so overdone in movies / TV shows. you think you get a great sci-fi movie and it's turns out planet XYZ is just window dressing for another human vs human semi-action flic.

how about humans vs zombies vs attempts to build a successful functioning society without making stupid stupid mistakes. We need a badass leader with a brain who kicks people who do stupid things over the wall.

I think you need to consider the possibility that Mullet is full of shit and doesn't have a cure. He said he did so people would protect him.

If everything fell apart, so, so quickly as it did in the show, there would be a virtually unlimited supply of ammunition left over. Even a relatively small Army or National Guard installation houses millions of rounds of ammunition. Large installations house store tens of millions. US Army arsenals, even more. Then there's the huge stockpiles in private hands. The capability to easily produce more from components, etc.

Given the limited amount of still living people, I don't think global ammunition shortage would be a real issue.

Not really a "global" ammo supply issue. I have to assume that most sporting goods stores were raided early on in the apocalypse. I wouldn't even know where to look for an army/national guard station, but there's a good chance those places are raided and/or being guarded by armed people that got there first. Yes, you can go house to house, but you of course have the danger of people or zombies around every corner and - even if you find ammo - it needs to be the right ammo for whatever guns you're carrying with you. And even then, you can only carry so much before the weight becomes an issue.

Please put this back with spoiler tags . . . only.

I know its fantasy but isn't cannibalism a non option for humans. I've heard we don't get proper nutrition from eating each other. Hence why cannibalism is usually a ritualistic thing not a long term survival option. Don't mention plane crashes and people stuck at sea these aren't long term.

Never heard that. AFAIK protein is all about the nine essential amino acids that the body can't manufacture and I think all eggs and meat are complete proteins meaning they provide all 9.

You are what you eat.

AFAIK there's a poorly misunderstood connection between cannibalism and a type of fatal protein misfolding disorder. IIRC the cannibals of Papa New Guinea suffer from it.

They covered that on the Talking Dead. That was Gareth's brother that got shot accidentally by a termite shortly after Rick realized something was wrong in the previous episode. Rick grabbed him and he got shot. I guess they were processing him like they were going to do with everyone else.

QFT. He is full of shit. Just throwing out sciencey works to make himself sound smarter, because he is a total pussy. It is straight from the comics. I have said too much already.

Thanks for the spoiler tags on that. Really appreciated it.

From what I learned watching Alive, you can survive on it.

From what I learned watching The Book of Eli, you can get a brain disease by eating contaminated human meat. Makes your hands shake.
