I was due for a Verizon upgrade in November '10. I was using a Samsung Omnia. (WinMo 6.1) While I was checking out what phone to move to, someone gave me a free Droid1.
What a difference! This gave me much more patience to research the perfect upgrade for me. I was leaning towards a Droid X. I'm a big guy, and I have big fingers, so a big screen size would be perfect for me.
Then I heard the rumors of the Droid Terminator/Bionic. And since then, like many people, I've been waiting. I live in an area that won't have LTE for at least another year or so. (South Bend, IN. Home of Notre Dame, so it may come somewhere in the middle of their rollout) But, I'm not holding my breath.
So, now my dilemma is the waiting game. I was pumped for the Bionic, but now I'm thinking my best bet is waiting for a Verizon Nexus Prime, if the stats hold true. The rumor is it could hit all carriers in the fall/Q4.
If current rumors hold true, the Bionic is going to have a screen size of 4.3. That's a bummer. I was really looking forward to a jumbo sized screen. (Are there any 4.5 inch screens on Verizon right now?) I'm mostly locked into Verizon because I've got a corporate discount, and I carry 5 lines with them. It'd be a hassle to switch, and I've got one line still under contract for another year or so...
Luckily, as I've been playing with alternate ROMs, there's still plenty of life left in my Droid1. I'm not DYING for an upgrade. However, I'm trying not to fall in the "Waiting Game Trap". I've been quite busy lately, and just started putting emulators on my D1. I'm having a lot of fun, and the only thing ruining the experience is the controls. Now I'm debating getting an Xperia Play, just to get the controller, and the waiting game will play itself. I won't have a state of the art phone, but it'll be NICE, and I'll certainly have all the options available in 20 months.
What to do... What to do...
(BTW, does any have or know anyone with an Xperia Play? If I can have a playable mobile Street Fighter 2, I think I'll be in heaven)
