"The Volume is Dirty"
I got this message when I started my work computer this morning.
It is Windows XP.
During the volume check which took place (after it displayed this message) it found 4 File Record Segments that it said were unreadable.
When the volume check finished the computer booted to the desktop O.K. but then when I did a restart, I got a message regarding not being able to read a certain memory address and it referred to the SVCHOST.EXE file.
When it came back to the desktop again, I then tried the restart again and I got the same error as above referring to the SVCHOST.EXE file.
Then when it came back to the desktop again, I again did a restart and this time it shutdown and restarted with NO error messages.
Does all of this mean that there is a possible HARDWARE problem with the hard drive or is this more likely a Windows software related problem(s) ?
Thanks.
