"You're lucky that all they want is equality and not revenge!" I like that she did a shout out to Trevor Noah. I always dig his videos, and he seems to have another almost daily. I posted my like of Noah in these forums and have yet to see someone second my feelings. Instead I saw complaints that he isn't funny, like he has an obligation to make them laugh because they associate him with Comedy Central. BullFuckin'Shit.

Which is why I keep saying the organizers of these peaceful protests should stop continuing to have them after sunset. Don’t give the opportunity for these agitators to stomp over their message for BLM. And no, I don’t care that freedom of speech should happen any hour of the day. When their message gets hijacked, everything they are protesting gets lost.

Because it is just a few. The argument you are jumping into the middle of is not if the rioting and looting is justified, or even if the protests (which are different from the rioting and looting) is justified, the argument is if 'entire cities are being held hostage' and that simply is not true. The truth is that there are protests going on, and as always, a few people have taken advantage of that fact to riot and loot. The argument we are having is not about the justifications, it is about the size of the rioting. The size happens to be 'just a few'.

This plays out one of three ways:

Trump lawfully wins the election, upon which the left has the maturity and self control to accept the results.

Trump loses and nothing happens, upon which you will have the maturity to admit your misguided alarmism

Trump loses and refuses to leave office, upon which I was wrong and will gladly stand with you on the streets

Stand on the streets? What good will that do? If that happens the rioting you've seen will have been only a precursor to what's to follow.

The logical follow up to that is that they really have no one in control, which I think is basically correct. BLM really needs a strong national leadership structure to denounce violence and give some sort of order to the protests (as MLK did). Obviously it would not solve the rioting problem entirely, but it would at least partially invalidate the criticism from the right.

I agree it would help, it would also prevent mission creep. These protests remind me of some of the problems with Occupy Wall Street - while being totally decentralized makes it harder to criticize specific actions because nobody's in charge, it also means you have no control and in many ways no shared purpose.

They need to focus on one thing - ending police impunity. Save freeing Palestine for another day.

It's true. I can think of no sense of central leadership, although there's something to be said for that. There are spokespeople, but nobody stands out. John Lewis dying was unfortunate at this juncture. Anyway, barring another major incident (black American spectacularly murdered, and likely by police, without justification) I expect things to mellow out at least a little until after the election. What happens after Nov. 3, I don't know.
