There were monsters in the movie. That was the whole point, don't you think?

But the were not real monsters just costumes.

I don't think he meant monsters as in monster monsters.

You know? 😉

And dammit was it enjoyable or not? 😀

Don't know didn't watch it. 😀

I only goto the theater for movies that REALLLLLY interest me. 🙂

Exactly - did you look at the paper that Shyamalan's character was reading? Hits pretty close to home.

hmmm please go into more detail!

2/10
Just saw it. I expected there to be a monster in this film and was disappointed. However, unlike some few movies this film has me thinking about it even now..
All the monsters in this dude's movies freak me out.

It's a movie some will hate and some will like. Went with three people, two hated it and one liked it. Leaving the reactions were mixed.

Sounds like the movie gets pretty predictable once the costumes are discovered. If it was me, I'd be booing this movie at the end. Anyway, you saved me $11. Thanks.

Sure it does. It about sums it all up. I actually laughed at some of the scenes, since they were unintentionally funny. There really isn't much more to the movie. Well, except the fact that Bryce Dallas Howard is cute. 😛 Oh and she gave a very good performance in the movie (despite the lame dialogue), but even her good performance couldn't save the movie.

I think the dialog is lame on purpose.....think about it....modern people trying to go back and live in the past. Of course they aren't going to have the language down.

the movie is good. just go enjoy it with an open mind.

true its not about monsters and gore and monsters killing people. if you want that go see Aliens or something

if you want a smart enjoyable movie, watch this. this movie has lots of good themes. how elders formed a society cuz they were sick of the real world and what it does to people.

just think hard =)

Thanks for the info!
The trailer looked good, but the reviews I've been hearing are pretty bad.
Now at least I have a really good idea of what it's about. I might rent it someday just to see what the monsters looked like, but I know I won't be spending no $10 to go see it.

A blind girl about his age, Ivy (Bryce Dallas Howard)

How did a blind girl find her way through the woods?

she's perceptive.

anyhow, her father tells her to travel a 1/2 days time to a hidden road by following the sound of the river / creek. then to follow the hidden road to the next town.

I haven't read the thread, but let me just say that I'm glad I only paid matinee price for this movie. What a waste of 2 hours. This thing could have been a 1 hour TV show, with commercials. It dragged on FOREVER, with so many long boring passages with literally nothing happening. I liked the ending, but otherwise I think this was poorly done.

And I think Ivy looks sort of like a young Dr. Beverly Crusher. 🙂

Yeap, I will not pay to see this I'll watch it on cable.

ending disappointed me... i went in knowing the story and still enjoy most of it... especially the part with brody vs joaquin

This synopsis makes me damn glad I didn't waste any money to see this movie. I would have been pissed when I found out there weren't really any monsters/creatures.

By lame dialogue I mean also the content, not just their manner.

Heheh. Think hard? The point is that the whole basis of the movie is predictable. It doesn't really take much thinking.

Stop trying to be an intellectual. 😀

M. Night is an overhyped piece of trash. Here's a good article about him: http://slate.msn.com/id/2104567/

This quote from that article pretty much sums up my thoughts on this hack.
"But is a twist ending an auteurist tic or just a way that Shyamalan gooses the audience again and again? There is a fine line between the auteur and the repetitious hack."

Saw it last night. My thoughts:

Oh, great. Liberal intellectuals with money. And look what they do with it.

Hmm, no other color of skin except honkey. And they keep saying that certain colors are either good or bad. Wonder what the blacks and asians think of this movie?

The guard's boss in the shack (whom we see in the reflection of the medicine cabinet glass) in M. Night himself.

I cannot recommend this movie (at $8) to anyone.
