Ah, except neither you nor the VP are scientists. Cheney IS right, there is a debate over whether global warming is caused by human actions and is a cause for concern, but it's not a scientific debate. With few exceptions, it's scientists on one side vs non-scientists on the other side. The "debate" exists largely because people like Cheney keep saying it exists. But science is not a democracy, and I guess the idea that their opinion is meaningless unless backed up by scientific fact just bugs Cheney-types.

I guess Richard Lindzen, Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT isn't a scientist. Or Bill Gray and Roger Pielke Sr. of the University of Colorado aren't scientists either, right?

Yes, there are a few dozen scientists that are adamant about global warming not being caused by man. But, there are many hundreds of climate scientists that think man plays a significant role in the current warming. And as for those climate scientists that are actually getting their research on climate change published in peer-reviewed journals, it's pretty much entirely the latter group. Spare me your baseless claims that every journal is biased.

This "growing" glacier junk has been dis-proven about 100x....

The ice thickness in the middle is increasing due to higher snowfall. But melting at the edges is much faster than any middle growth, for a net reduction in ice volume.

I cant believe how dumb people still are about global warming. Even the new weather man was saying, after we had a very cold spell in the medwest, that global warming was still in question. He was serious, just because we had a long cold spell.

What people fail to grasp is global warming has nothing to do with cold days or warm days. Its the change in the earths weather patterns. THTAS what global warming is all about. Not hot & cold....

Like have below zero weather in Feb/March, usually only in Jan. Or floods, and complete weather patters gone amuck. Thats global warming. Snow in L.A. is a good one.

Ummm, I think the VP has to be the way he is. Could you image the blow to bush if he came out and said we are losing in Iraq and GW is man made. HAHAHA Bush and him have to dance the same. I dunno what bush would do if his VP was not flowing with him. I figure he's done it for the past 7 years, what the hell, might as well keep up the good look for another year.... Wouldn't you do the same if you were getting all the perks and crap that flows along as being a VP? I guess I would but I would hate going against my morals.

My personal favorite are the complete and total MORONS who try to claim "the earth goes through natural warming and cooling periods and has for millions of years". Because they obviously don't understand the concept of cause and effect. If the earth has heated or cooled there's always been a cause that has sparked the temperature shift. To say something happens just because is stupid.

Just the fact that this thread exists is proof that Cheney is right. If there was no debate over global warming, you guys wouldn't be bickering above me over it.

Cheney did not expressly support one position or the other. He just said that there's going to be debate over the topic, and that we need to be aware of the environment but not by crippling it with Kyoto (which is what Kyoto would do). There's nothing anti-global-warming in there, unless someone can point it out.
