It's not Apple that can change that. It's a limitation of CDMA and needs to be implemented by Verizon.

I loved how they opened up talking about how great their LTE kung-fu was and how they wanted to name it 6G it was so good, then said sorry...you get the old stuff and can't talk AND surf over 3G at the same time. Ouch. I'll wait for 4G - that's a dealbreaker for me!

This is more of an announcement of an additional iPhone carrier than a new product. It's like in the UK when they opened it up to other carriers. It's a big deal, but then again it's not a big deal.

Yeah, Canada already has like 6 carriers.

Except that now Americans will actually be able to make calls on their iPhones :awe:

Wow... compared to all of those 4G Android phones with 4.3" screens and dual core processors that Verizon just announced at CES, this is a bit of a let down.

I'm waiting for them to drop the bomb - that there will be Unlimited Data Plans, but only for a limited amount of time. You can grandfather it into your 4G if you buy now, then pay full price for the iPhone 4G 😛

Apple isn't going to let Verizon release a new iPhone for them. Plus it's nowhere near close to being that time. Realistically, this is the only announcement that Verizon could have made regarding the iPhone.

4.3" is not what a majority of users want (regular users/not power users like us). Dual core processors also is more for the use of the UI since it's not graphics accelerated. But I do see the iPhone 5(?) having dual core A4.

I thought they announced $30 unlimited?

Edit: Guess I was wrong. Only announced pricing for phones.

I'm waiting for LTE to be implemented here, by then the VZW iPhone should support it. No voice/data at the same time is a huge deal breaker.. sad.

Its great they're pushing the wifi hotspot.. but its my PHONE and I usually get CALLS, so I would be SOL trying to use that for mobile data.
