Anybody else looking forward to this one?

A first-person game that focuses on environment, story, and character development. I really hope they pull it off well (I believe these are former Epic employees, btw).

The artistic direction is looking great:

I'm definitely looking forward to this one. The devs aren't just former Epic employees, but they're actually former People Can Fly (Painkiller) devs as well.

"Inspired by the weird fiction stories and other tales of macabre of the early 20th century"

definitely looking at this one then. Love those old pulp stories!

It's out. It's a great game, refreshing, beautiful and you should play it. Definitely worth $20. All I'll say for now.

P.S. Sorry if this is considered necroing the thread but IMO it's better to revive a thread than just start a new one and repost all the same stuff.

I totally didn't realize this game had already released. I bought it and downloaded it last night.

People have said this already, but I'll say it again: This game is, graphics-wise, absolutely gorgeous. It looks just like the screenshots posted in the OP. Actually, scratch that; it looks better. You really need to see it in motion. Screenshots don't do it justice.

It's very well-optimized too. As long as I have MSAA turned off, my 7870 can run it at a buttery smooth 60fps at 1080p.

I didn't get too far into it (it was late and I needed sleep) but it seems like a creepy/mysterious adventure game where you have to find out the details of a murder or something by gathering clues. The map is surprisingly open too. I will play it over the weekend.

Just a reminder for those planning on picking it up soon, GMG has a 25% off coupon. Steam version.

The reviews I read though is this game is only around 3 hours long.

The GMG 25% off code doesn't work for me.

just tested with another game and it works there, but not with Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Sorry I was incorrect. I had 2 codes in my email. One for the 25% off (which yes excludes some titles), and a 23% off code for any title. It was exclusive to my account though apparently.

Pontifex you have PM.

Yeah, I used the 23% off loyalty code and it worked fine.

Wow this is looking really good. It's an adventure game, first person and with character development/customization?

From what I can tell, it's a "lite" first person adventure game with a short, but intriguing story, and some tough environmental puzzles. There is no player customization or anything. Seems closer to something like Dear Esther (although not THAT abstract, I think it's more gamey than that).

This is by far one of the most beautiful games I have ever had the privilege of playing, ever.

Played it for 3 hours today , solved 3 puzzles. I think it will take longer than four hours ...

Nice looking game but needs a save anytime , it only saves when you complete a puzzle

The textures in this game are the best I have ever seen. Due to the photogrammetry technology no doubt.

But even though I have a solid 75fps there is a little bit of stuttering going on.

Agreed. I was worried that a scanned environment would come off very "static," but they pulled it off extremely well.

Best looking game I've EVER seen.

Weird that I was hearing stuff about it months ago, but on release nothing. Been looking forward to it, sadly too much on my plate right now.

Beautiful beautiful game. I've never seen such gorgeous graphics in quite a while. These kinda games have so much potential when it comes to virtual reality. Imagine visiting this world with an Oculus Rift.

Awesome experience overall! Really liked the puzzles in the game and the details of the different environments.
The astronaut/space capsule part was awesome!

Also, not sure I understood the game well but here's my guess:

All of this was in Ethan's mind. So we play one of his imaginary "friend" and we're playing his story from the start!?!?

MSAA seems to kill this game. I drop from 70-75-ish to around 50 when going from 2x to 4x.

Which SLI bits are you using? I'm using same as one of the Batman games if I remember correctly (not at home right now). Works well but not sure if it's optimal.
