The usb device cannot be found or has malfunction. Can some help me with this.

Everything was fine then all of a sudden my mouse stopped working. I plugged it into all the other usb ports in the back and they came up with message the usb device cannot be found or has malfunction or ,USB device not recognized and that it has malfunctioned somewher along those lines.
I tried different mice and same thing.

Any help please.

nothing at all just that one

is this a motherboard malfunction. i reinstalled the chipset drivers also.
reinstalled windows.

could it be cause i flashed my bios to the 1006
it worked for a day so i dont know if it is that or not.

Hmm..after you flashed did you go into the bios and reload default bios settings? You need to...also insure that in the bios that USB support is enabled.

If by this I take it to mean "Legacy USB support", that's not necessary unless he's working in DOS or a non Plug 'n' Play operating system.

If you mean the USB controller in general, then he wouldn't be seeing any messages about USB in Windows as the controller would be disabled. That, in effect, is the same as having no USB controller at all, and thus Windows won't load USB support on bootup.

Phil...ya...I suppose you win the point. Have you gone into the device manager to insure that the USB controller is reported as being properly installed and functioning properly? Im quite sure at a minimum you need to at least start there.

First things first...what does the device manager say about your USB controller installation. Does it show it installed properly?

yeah under univeral serial bus controller everything is installed and working properly

cich1012: Have you any other USB devices that you can try? Anything at all? You may want to try the mouse in Safe Mode (F8 as soon as Windows begins to boot, then choose Safe Mode) to see if it's a regular-mode problem.

Does the mouse come with a battery? I know you said usb but thought maybe an Optical may need one.

tried three different devices.

someone told me that i probably blew my circuitry and MB header from keeping my inline waterpump connected the motherboard,where you would normally plug in a fan for power.

that might have done it.
