1. The Saudis hate us as of today.
2. Obama was shown who is boss by Putin during the Syria mess. Made himself look even weaker.
3. The NSA is out of control. (Merkel had her phone tapped as well.)
4. All of our allies hate us because the NSA hasn't been reigned in by Obama but rather given a blank check.
5. Health Care reform is / was a joke because Congress went out of control and wasn't reigned in by a strong leader.
6. Afghanistan is still a money pit without end.
7. Guantanamo hasn't been closed.
8. Job growth is nill.
9. The economy is not growing.
10. Debts and deficits are still growing uncontrollably.

On and on and on and on...

I am fully aware that one man can't change everything or even anything but one can make a difference. A good leader does things that motivate the people around him, whether they agree or disagree. And I just don't see Obama doing anything. He might as well be an empty suit. I just don't see any leaders out there anywhere on either side of the aisle.

Oh, and I can add this as a resident of DC...

11. The revolving door between Washington power circles and the rich upper class continues to turn. Policies and laws are written by people who have never known hardship or challenge. 90% of the 20-somethings I see in this town are still chewing on the golden spoon. They carry Coach bags, drive the latest BMW model, enjoy their Starbucks 2x a day, and still bill it all to daddy's credit card.

Man, if only Obama was a dictator!

Gotta love the "I just can't make up my mind" GOP; one minute Obama is a Hitler-esque dictator, the next he isn't a leader at all and can't do anything.

The GOP should try and make up their mind on this, instead of flip-flopping from one side to the other.

obama was elected and people expected leadership out of him? It's not going to happen since he isn't a good leader.

I mostly agree, but I don't think #1 and #2 are reasonable. The Saudis never liked us so much as found us useful. And while Putin does seem to have come out on top, in reality both got what they actually wanted. Obama wanted no use of WMDs against civilians or other nations; he is apparently getting Syrian disarmament, same as Bush II got from Iraq at far less cost and from Libya at more cost - but Syria is much more powerful and much better protected. Putin wanted Assad left in place, and this agreement appears to have nullified NATO plans to remove him by nullifying America. We got something for which we dared not ask at very low cost and with some loss of face; Russia got something for which they were threatening to fight at very low cost and in fact greatly enhance national prestige. Maybe Russia comes out ahead, but Obama is still getting what he wants as Assad with no WMDs is undeniably better than the rebels in power with WMDs. This may also fracture the terrorists' coalition into pro-Assad and anti-Assad camps.

Also, numbers 3 & 4 aren't so much us being leaderless as our leader going in an evil direction. Actually, leaders - if the Republicans as a party felt strongly that this is an evil direction, there are enough Democrats who would climb on board to forcibly remove this power from Obama's hands. It's a bipartisan evil.

Point is that the national economy according to most of us within the Beltway has never been better. Just please send us more of your hard-earned money. We know how to spend it most efficiently. Trust us. I promise none of my friends will get any of it.

2. Uh, WMD destruction were used over there. Can you suggest anything that would have been a better outcome? Should we have gone to war? Bombed the shit out of them? Assassinated Assad? Personally, I think that the conclusion to that mess was about as good as it was going to get. And, for once, it got some other country involved instead of the US having to do everyone else's dirty work.

5. The only thing that would have helped health care is a one payer system. That wasn't going to happen. But, I think this intermediate step is going to set the foundation for single payer at some point in the future.

6. Yep.
7. Couldn't.

Democrats and other supporters of Obama had high expectations. This is why you keep expectations low, maybe very low. Or maybe none at all.

Things under Bush weren't any better, btw. Or under Clinton or under anyone else.

Our leaders reflect the population. As the population falls further, so will its politicians. We deserve these politicians - all of them.

I think most of those items you list are a result of poor or bad leadership (or at least leadership in directions I don't like), and not any lack of leadership.

Offshoring your good middle class jobs will do all of the above.....and did.

No fixing it until we reverse course....

Add in:

11. Wages have been stagnant for a decade + and not moving much now either (unless you're at the top of the chain).

This was clear before the end of his first term,,,, and he was still reelected.

Just 3 more years.
Perhaps it was, but do you think McCain/Palin or Romey/Ryan can do a better job?

IMHO, you all be screws no matter who you vote to be the POTUS, because the US is run by the few wealthy people that are behind the scenes.

Thanks to the super majority requirement in the Senate, this country is ungovernable.

Uh, what?

The senate doesn't have a self imposed rule where the majority of the majority have to agree just to bring a bill forward. In fact the senate has routinely had bi-partisan support on many bills. So I have no idea what you are talking about.

I believe he is referring to the 60 vote cloture rule in the Senate.

The rule you are referring to in the House is known as the Hastert rule.

Wrong. Deficit is down from $1.4 trillion in 2009 to $642 billion in 2013......http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs.../24/has-obama-cut-the-budget-deficit-in-half/

Correct me if I am wrong. The $1.4 Trillion for FY 2009 also included the $430 Billion Tarp which is getting paid back during current budgets? Remove the Tarp you and you get a $1 Trillion deficit for 2009 and you lose the "Higher than expected paybacks" for 2013 according to the CBO giving you a lot more than a $642 Billion Deficit for 2013.
