The US has become terminally stupid.

Between the right wing religious fanatics and the left-wing conspiracy theorists, this country has gone down the shitter.

And fast.

Did everyone just collectively lose all semblance of common sense?

Sad part is this is still the best country to live on on earth.

You've just been hanging out in this forum too much. Thankfully, not everyone's like this.

Very true but they are in a hurry to make it no longer the best country to live on earth because when you have more money than you can possibly spend, the destruction you leave behind does not affect you.

I dont think it will come down to civil war.....the religious right dont have the backing, and the looney left dont have the balls.

And middle america looks at both sides with a pained expression realizing this is what the media reports to the rest of the world.

Never say never, desperate people do desperate things.

Who do you think will be desperate?

The Rich that don't give a crap about the destruction they do or the ones that have been destroyed by said Rich Boys?

This assumes that the rich have "destroyed" america......which really isnt all that prevelant belief outside academia and the left.

To put it in simple terms:

The Rich are no different from the Imperialistic OverTaxing England that this Country broke away from and went to War against to begin with.

Enron was just the beginning and fraction of the tip of the IceBerg.

I dont think america is becoming MORE stupid ;)

I just think that the extremists have pushed each other further and further away. Note my poll about extremists pushingpeople away from their original stance.
if you hear an extremist (ie. o'reilly, mm)...this will make centrists go right or left.
after time goes on people get more and more polarized and more and mor vocal.

The vocal aspect is what is really hurting it all. As it accelerates the polarization or extrmism.

that's laughable. yes, the rich are taxing your stamps and tea right now as we speak. i believe that it is elected officials that pass the raising and lowering of taxes not the monetarily elite. and while you may comeback with lobby groups putting pressure on officials with money, than you should blame your elected official for not being resolute and being interested in your affairs.

as for the enron comment, you may be right. many corporate leaders of today are surrounded by "yes" men that are only interested in their pockets and not the stakeholders in the company. hopefully someday a strong retribution will come down on those types and scare officers from never doing it again.

I'm being taxed by corporations?

How does that work? If you're talking about pricing strategies....well if I think it's too expensive, I dont buy it. Pretty simple really.

I dont buy anything on credit either, so there goes the evil bank theory.

Also, these "evil corporations" also happen to employ the majority of this country.

Weather's great where I live. We have a kick ass local brew now too.

Although it's not as good as Canadian or English beer i'll admit.

None of my mom's side of the family go to church.

None of my friends go to church.

They all voted for Bush. How is that Jesusland?

So if Kerry had won it would be correct to call the entire US "looney left land"?

No, they are actually stupid instead of just paranoid and bored.

The United States has always been predominantly Christian, but we are hardly a "Jesusland."

Perhaps the U.S. of the late 1700's would fit that term, but not today. Sorry.

I agree. I would have also said the same thing if Kerry won. Question is would you?

No, I don't consider opting for the lesser of two evils stupid. Kerry the perfect man for the job? Hardly, but rewarding incompetence and dishonesty during times of war can indeed be viewed in my opinion as 'terminally stupid.'
