I heard the theme song for The Untouchables (which is awesome by the way) during the Olympics and it brought to mind what I pretty good movie this was. My boy Sean Connery even got a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for it ;)

Did Costner play Ness? Somehow, I'd have a hard time buying him in that role.

Yes he did, probably one of his better performances (well, that's not saying much for Costner;)).

Argh!

Why does Costner get such a bad rap? I actually like a lot of the guy's movies.

For Love of the Game - Excellent flick, A+. They got the book down, and even added some to it.

The Postman - hey, a little long, sure, and the final fight with Will Patton was somewhat lame, but it was a cool flick. The book was better, but they couldn't have afforded the special effects (cyborgs a la The Terminator, etc.).

Robin Hood - cool flick. A good date movie.

Dances With Wolves - Easily one of the greatest movies of all time.

Waterworld - I actually own it on DVD. I like it, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. It's a hell of a lot better than the piece of shi+ that is Starship Troopers.

Tin Cup - hilarious.

The Bodyguard sucked, but it wasn't because of Costner. And Wyatt Earp isn't that great, but that's only because it's judged against the far superior Tombstone. And who can forget Bull Durham and Field of Dreams?

And as far as The Untouchables, yes, Costner was great in it. And yes, he played Elliott Ness. Sean Connery and "Bobby D" probably did a better acting job, Andy Garcia was solid, and Charles Martin Smith was awesome as the accountant-turned-crimefighter.

I'm with Xerox Man, except for Water World. I think Tin Cup was funny, but not hilarious. Dances With Wolves is a great movie, if you're in the mood for an epic.

EDIT: JFK was an excellent movie as well. I think Costner was great in that one.

Dances with Wolves, a great flic, was the best of his movies because the character was the most like him. Liked Untouchables also but the supporting cast was the thing.

Kevin just doesnt make it as an action hero for me, give me AHHnold any day.

See message in a bottle? Boring to even the most jaded romantic I know.

Ask an American Indian what they think of Dances with Wolves, and he or she won't agree with you on it being on of the greatest movies.

Everybody forgets his BEST work..... Silverado

Things kinda went downhill from there. Untouchables was pretty good (Sean Connery)... Tin cup was ok, cuz it was kinda funny (Cheech Marin). Waterworld was good if you can separate yourself from reality (Yeah, I buy people ROWING an aircraft carrier that is encased in rock.) Everything else by Costner sucks. He, IMO, is one of the most over-rated and over-hyped actors around. He couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag.

Yup, Silverado was good but again a great supporting cast. He is way over rated.
Dont you have to suspend reality to enjoy almost any movie, tv program, ect?

TOOLGIRL

Its only a movie. You are right but do you expect truth, justice, ethics or anything else from Hollywood?

Jack Nicolson--Even you have to be kidding.
A great personality, fun to watch and he has his moments but a great actor?

Starship troopers the movie *was* very different than the book. But, then I figure the powered body armor would have been too expensive to film with.

I enjoyed the movie, but it really shouldn't be compared to the book... just think that it happens to have the same name.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Starship Troopers (book) was the first to introduce the idea of a collective "hive" mind and powered body armor. Things to become staples in future Sci Fi... Kinda of makes it the grandfather to most modern day Sci Fi stuff. Any other opinions on Starship Troopers?

i forgot all about that book i read it for my sci-fi lit class when i was in college ......so your right compared to the book the movie does stink but on it's own (let's say the book didn't exist) it was a very good movie, besides i LOVED all the gratuitus violence!

NSF4-

Emoting (chewing the scenery) is not great acting.
I am a Nicholson fan but because he is fun like in the Witches of Eastwick.
No Batman movie to date has been worth the name. Halfway through the 1st one I asked quite loudly "Does this suck or is it just me?" Half the audience said "This movie sucks". I was so dissappointed as I thought we were going to see a good flick. Some good characters though, Danny Devito WAS "The Peguine". Michelle Pfifer, EH? No one has done a good batman but Kilmer came closest? Nicholson was good but the Riddler let a lot to be desired. Gorsham did it better.

Only my humble opinion, this is not rocket science.

Ummm, the first one if the one that Nicholson was in (Michael Keaton, Robert Wuhl, Kim Basinger, Jack Palance, Jack Nicholson). You're thinking about Batman Returns which was NO WHERE as good as the first, ANYONE will tell you that it is THE best flick. F*&k Kilmer ;) Keaton was the best b/c he was dark and remote. Tim Burton knew how to film that movie.
