I read that 50% wrong. Yes and no.

As an offlaner you don't have to do anything to gain exp from neutrals- regardless of who kills it.

If you last-hit, the only benefit is the gold. Previously, you HAD to last hit in order to hog both exp and gold.

Uh, yea you are right here. I thought smackababy said the same thing.

Yes, it's just that smackbaby worded it unusually for Dota 2.

Offlaner can't afford bully much to steal camps in pro games.

Heh, 2 man offlaning and stealing their pull XP isn't that hard in pubs. Not that you can anymore. =(

I misunderstood your original post of the change.

Don't just try to memorise every single change, a lot of them aren't that important. Take the biggest ones and group them into themes (e.g. Batrider nerf, offlane is easier, jungle is different, etc) and just learn the others through playing.

Thanks.

I get the hero changes and that jungling is different, how is the offlane easier? I missed that.

I really don't understand why they reduced jungling XP, unless there really is a conspiracy afoot like some people have suggested where Valve wants Dota to be more "team fighting" and "ganking" so that it's always a high-revving action game. That would make it less boring to watch, perhaps. But it really takes away a dimension of the game.

Yeah I was puzzled by this as well.

XP AoE range increase
Can steal XP from closeby jungle creeps simply through being in range.
Creeps meet closer to offlane tower

Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing carry palyers rage at supports who "last hit" the enemy wards. "Dude wtf? I need carry gold, trash support don't take ward kill!"

I didn't know you didn't get gold for dewarding in Dota 2. Man, I been doing it wrong lol. Too used to HoN I guess. The only thing this will change is making supports have a bit more gold and actually encourage dewarding.

The safe lane is called the safe lane partly because it used to be too dangerous for the offlaner to approach the creep wave. The creep equilibrium used to be so close to the tower that it left you very vulnerable to ganking from all sorts of different directions. This means that the offlane has to constantly be on the lookout for ganking opportunities and remain always ready to have some means of escape should a gank come. This severely reduces XP and gold gaining opportunities.

Now that the creep wave is much closer to the river (i.e. almost right on top of it) the offlane becomes effectively ungankable. You could get ganked up the river, but there's a lot less cover and rune wards usually spot out an approaching enemy. It makes you much safer and it allows you to play more aggressively.

Jungling also gives the opponent EXP, so that also gives an advantage to the offlane. Part of the disadvantage of the offlane was the deficiency in gold and EXP the offlaner would get, even while solo, due to being forced back away from the creep wave. Now that deficiency no longer exists (and if anything even favours the offlane somewhat, because a solo offlaner will get more solo EXP).

Why I hate Dota 2 right now:

I concede first blood (made an error, and it happens, no big deal right?) - get bitched at and called an idiot for it in voice by my lanemate, etc. He even did whiny voices and insulted me all around. To make things worse, the person I was partied with didn't stick up for me AT ALL, even after I asked him to.

Anyway, we lose the game later, and I get bitched at and insulted some more, and apparently reported for intentional feeding, which is utter bullshit.

Then, my "friend" just removes me from his list. He doesn't even say goodbye.

Seriously, what in the actual fuck is up with people?

Also: the way people react online is fucked. First they are all rude and bitch you out and insult you. Then, they're super nice to everyone else on their team with their "gj" and "no worries, it happens", and say things like "nicely done" or "nice play" to the enemy team, being all nice and stuff. So basically, it makes them seem nice to everyone who didn't see what actually happened earlier, so everyone thinks you indeed are a terrible player or at fault.

Fucking people (it's not just Zeze, lol). What little faith I have in people is dwindling fast.

Seriously, I think I only have like 3-4 actually "nice" people on my Dota 2 friends list right now. The rest are all egotistical pricks.

Whoa, don't direct your Dota rage at me. What did I do?

You gotta have a thicker skin to play this game. Can't let it get to you.

You constantly say shit you don't do. I find it annoying. I almost feel trolled. Like, it's not even about the Dota items - I couldn't care less about them. It's just that I feel this type of behaviour bleeds into the game in one way or another. And you're probably one of the better ones too.

I'm just disappointed at people in general.

Honestly, 99% of the time, I'm super classy in games. The other 1%, I crack and tell people what they deserve to hear, or troll them back. I feel that's an extension of my personality and what I think is the proper way to conduct oneself.

The gaming world would be so much better for it if everyone were like that. Or the world itself, but that's totally outside the scope of this thread.

I know, but for some reason I hate doing that.

The thing that really gets me is when your friends don't stick up for you AT ALL, even when you're 100% correct. Maybe because I'm the complete opposite.

I guess the muting suggestion isn't enough when you are actually the kind of person you are said to hate, Turbonium.

I know right? I'm actually a decent person. Shocking! And to think I actually expect others (like yourself) to keep your word on basic things, at least the second time around! I guess that's expecting too much of people though, especially when there's no accountability present on the net.

Btw, I think perhaps the problem with lots of people (on Dota especially) isn't thick vs. thin skin, but what's underneath it (bloated egos with absolutely zero fucks given for whether or not they're being a complete asshat).

I guess the muting suggestion isn't enough when you are actually the kind of person you are said to hate, Turbonium.
I don't really get it. Are you saying I'm just as bad as them?

I've talked back/given people shit on occasion, but they always instigate it. And I doubt others are doing the same as me, given the frequency of BS that is out there (not to mention that again, I never start shit). Some people do it all the time too, simply because they can. And I never instigate or start anything. Like ever. You will never catch me calling someone an idiot out of nowhere.

If this is a reference to my earlier post, read it again. They instigated, and insulted me (after I was perfectly polite and reasonable), so I just had enough. That's the 1% I mentioned earlier.

I agree though, the Dota 2 community is ass at times and the report system needs alot of ironing out imo. I tend to stick to solo queue's if I play, to avoid team stacking reports if you don't perform well or do what your told in game.
