Awesome 😀

Amazing how she went from before the event thinking of the stereotypical gaming/gamer to when the event started and it a flipped a switch in her mind on how very very wrong she was.

I created a new AnandTech team using DOTA 2's new community feature... If anyone wants to join and que in as a team for games please message me... feel free to invite others as well. :awe:

Wow steam support sux; they finally answered my hawks' cleft call ticket with the following garbage:
Hello,

This item is automatically unlocked if you have completed the necessary tasks within the Compendium prior to the start of The International.

If the item was not granted, you did not complete the necessary steps.

Now that the tournament is over, the item cannot be added to your account.

In my compendium, all answers have been selected, but there are no "show results" for any of them, and they're all locked with the answer.

What's the chat channel? I would like to join.

I just searched AnandTech and it came up.

Had some decent games last night. Going super tryhard though. Wisp or Furion all day. Was 2 queuing with a friend and we only lost one. Queued as 5 one game with a few other friends, and we hit a clan that picked all pubtrain heroes and stomped us.

That is incredibly lame.

I'd take screen shots and open another ticket. Include those, get a support number (if they even assign them), and then call and speak with a manager. Kind of stupid if there was a bug and you weren't able to get your items because of it.

Hmm good points; I will try that tonight.

Why can I never get on a team that isn't full of people that want to play super passive and just let the other team farm...

I find that it comes down to hero selection.

If you have two melee vs two ranged the melee usually ends up being passive, or if the other side has better harass it can be better to be passive while gaining levels and staying alive than trying to get last hits and ending up feeding.

The worst thing is when you're a hard support and you let the carry/non-support in your lane have all the farm and then you find out they can't last hit. :colbert:

It is not even about hero selection in most of the games I've witnessed. We will have very good carries, and I will aggressively ward as a support, but they won't do anything but defend towers the other team occasionally pushes and farm out the lanes. Even if we win a team fight and take down 4 of their heroes, they won't push. They just seem content to let the other team farm our jungle, their jungle, and the rest of the map. They just sit around and wait to lose.

I am really only picking super tryhard now. No more having fun until I get to a high enough bracket I feel I can let the carry actually carry. In the past 50 or so games, I've been the only player ever to buy smoke or dust (which I usually only get to counter Riki because he pubstomps morons who don't buy dust).

I've seen a couple of games like that. I won one the other night where even though my team had not so great hero selection and were down a rax the other team couldn't finish a push to finish us off. Our Meepo (!) was able to get farmed enough to murder their carry and allow us to counter push and eventually win.
And then last night I lost one for the same reason while playing Drow, we won early and mid game hard but couldn't push their rax, in the end their AM and Alch were able to farm enough to kill us. (Drow dies in 4 hits to a fully farmed Alch, btw).

I won a seemingly hopeless game last night as Wisp. Our Spectre and Phantom Lancer got dominated in lane (safe lane was something incredibly awful even as a Wisp trying to babysit). Our mid (Magnus) lost to Alch and it was just downhill. The other team ended up trying to over extend on a tower push and Spectre got a nice ult that I could follow up with a Link + Orbs and decimate them at our 2nd tier tower. Then I made a huge play with Wisp ulti, linking onto Phantom in their jungle running, and ported him back to the well. We ended up getting farmed enough we could team fight (and had a much better comp, so we pushed all racks) then the other team tried to fight us at Rosh and our PL throned them.

Just played my second game of Puck ever. Played on Australian server, with 38ms ping. I had a much better game than my first, when I played on USW with 150ms ping.

Such an amazing hero.

Puck is really good. If I play him, I usually only do in a situation where we have a strong mid already and a jungler. I will play him as a suicide (solo offlane) and let our carry have a baby sitter bottom. With a jungler also having the presence making it a psuedo trilane. Puck can do very well getting little early game farm and being the initiator, especially after getting a blink mid game.

Yeah, Phase shift + blink is an amazing escape mechanism, and the orb as a backup makes him really hard to track down and kill. I was also against a Viper, CK, VS, and Slardar as well, so it made it really easy to dodge stuns and Viper ult.

Riki was harder to play against though.

Riki is rather easy if you shut him down early game, but he will get farm no matter what. Puck is great to blink in, silence, ulti, orb + phase shift out.

I don't know if it is still in Dota 2, but you used to be able (if you were fast enough) to die while you sent out orb, buy back and port to it. I know you can hook with Pudge just before getting sent back by Chen and drag the person all the way back to the well.

I think you can... Puppy and Dendi was using the Chen + Puck trick to refill their bottles without a TP.
