Question for all of you higher skilled players: Do you generally pick only the heroes that are good, in order to keep your win rate up, or do you try and random every game to get your general knowledge of each hero?

Personally I've been randoming non-stop since I started to learn how each hero works, but it seems from the various discussions that some people regard certain heroes as garbage and don't ever bother picking them for serious games. For example the first few times I randomed sand king I won each game easily; he seemed rather overpowered compared with playing some of the other heroes.

This made me wonder if people just pick the heroes that are good and don't waste their time with other heroes at all, to avoid the risk of losing. In tournament play for example it seems the same set of heroes are picked repeatedly.

this is what i normally do.
-if I am 1st one to picks in my team I random.
-if 3 heroes have already been picked, then i pick according to what team needs.

Amazing game betweeen Na'vi vs Fnatic. The reddit is exploding over this. Grab a drink and enjoy the match.

Crazy game! Dendi was just raping QoP and everyone else with Pudge up until 15 minutes of the game... then Xbox got 3 Rapiers and it was game over... the last battle was insane! everyone did what they had to do to keep Xboct alive - Xboct got hexed, then his own team force staffed him and etheral him to keep him alive and still in the battle!.... looks like he bought that third Rapier for giggles or in case he loses one or two of them...

Mostly action packed and none of the farm and grind...

Here is the last battle in slow motion:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6fXE2xfP9g&feature=youtu.be

So much going on in one battle - I just barely noticed when Treant cast Root Rubick stole Root and casted it to prevent the right clickers from killing Xboct right when Lich casted his ultimate...

He's awful. And I used to love him due to his -armor gimmick as a new player too.

- His first skill is awful. Near-max MS is just NOT fast enough compared to free instant blink spells of AM, QoP, etc. He still needs dagger (or at least force) to properly use his Crush. Receiving 30% amp dmg is awful too.

- Most dagger users (ES, Brewmaster, Enigma, Magnus, etc) are all set just with Arcane and Dagger. Then they make all the difference in the world. Slardar is awkward. His Dagger + Crush is good, but still needs BKB to sustain himself afterward. Someone like Brew can Blink + Clap + Ultimate to cause utter chaos.

- He requires way too much items. Terribly stunted by mana, and needs regen, also a mobility item (dagger, force).

- Zero spammable farm-clearing spells. This shortcoming was felt terribly in recent pro game (was it Fnatic?). Slardar was played as a #1 farm priority carry in that game. He just couldn't farm enough with slow auto attack one by one compared to enemy AM/Gyro.

He's fun if he gets really fed in pub games. Other than that, you can still feel his shortcomings even with a great start in high skill games.

hmmm so maybe its just me. whenever i play it my team usually win.
i have never played it like carry, i use it like a ganker, try 2 get lvl 6 and then i hunt all game with supports(preferably) some someone with disables.

my most preferred combo is pudge + sladar. i ulti everyone in other team and pudge tries 2 hook if it connects i can stun also

Yup, you're doing him right. He should be played like a Brewmaster (initiator, ganker, utility, semi carry)

IMO some heroes like sladar, ck(only in pubs), bs and potm are not as good as it used to be 2-3 years back, because people think they are carry. Instead of farming and trying to out carry some proper carry, if they play it the old ways and just gank 24X7 after lvl 6-7 they still really powerful.

I played DOTA2 a ridiculous amount this weekend. The game's addiction is starting to get heavy. I seemed to somehow have attracted some item trader trolls. After picking up some decent rares, I had a couple random friend invites, that try to get me to trade some of my items, but then they only try to offer common items in exchange. I'm still too new to the trading scene to make a commitment at this point but it seems some of the traders are very aggressive in trying to get your stuff.

I actually uninstalled it for now. Wedding is in 2 months. 🙁

Fiancee getting mad and I don't blame her.

I mostly use Slardar in pub games... to mostly to make every one super squishy for my ganker or carry... he normally is best roaming with Pudge or a carry - he can either stun them for an easy hook and/or make them super squishy for pudge.

1) Depending whom is on the other team I either rush a force staff or BKB (if they have a strong disabler)...

2) If play him mostly as a support, I usually get a force staff

3) If our carry is failing/falling behind, then I can be a carry by getting a BKB with either a Heart or Assult Cuirass (or all three if I can get enough farm).

Hi, I'm a sexy asian girl, trade me rare couriers please...

Have you had that one yet?

You can sell some of the rare stuff - I think there is a price list somewhere... but yeah just hold on to them... they are rare for a reason.

I normally keep all my rare stuff and only give them to real friends...LOL

Yeah I was looking at some of the price check sites and there is no way that some of that is real - people mentioning some items going for hundreds of dollars?

I don't understand why the dmg amp is still there. I think slardar could use a buff and removing that silly dmg amp would be a step in the right direction. Maybe some +atk speed component added too?

Right. Also -armor is too situational to be honest. Slardar's ultimate is used for the vision foremost. It's like a shitty version of Track which gives everyone Yasha.

-armor is not much when you got spells like SD's Amplify Damage which amps ALL damage sources, not physical.

Either take away Slardar's Sprint self-damage, or give it another side benefit (+AS? or additional -armor?).

Rescale his ultimate to give -10/15/20 armor instead of -8/14/20...

I like amp damage but understand the whole package is weak. The extra damage taken from sprint is just way too high, though. Amp is also weaker when you compare it to something like Dazzle's ult that effects everyone and buffs your team as well.

I found out it's 15% self amp on Sprint. It's still bad. They should just get rid of it. You're dedicating 4 levels of skill just to run fast... without invis like Clinkz.

last time i checked Golden Roshan was 1500-2400 keys and each key is 2.5$
so its b/t 3750$-6000$.
😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

maybe add something like wisp's tether stuns or centaur's ulti stun to it,
like if sladar touches enemy hero, that hero gets mini stun once, similar 2 clock's ministun. it can stop channeling spells and tps.
keep the amp dmg i don't care
